Having tried several different shoes over the years, my last 3 pairs have been Adidas and I would not buy anything else. When you are walking several miles during a game of golf, shoes, next to golf clubs of course, have to be the most important outlay. It is important that you chose a correct fit and that the shoes are comfortable and functional.

Adidas, who are of course famous for making training shoes have a wealth of experience, about 75 years I think, and seem to have used it wisely in the design of their golf shoes range.

They offer several different types of golf shoe from the more traditional style to a training type shoe which seem to be becomming very popular amongst professionals.

Uli Robbecke, the Eurpoean Product Manager of Adidas Golf says " The golf shoe design is more and more influenced by sport shoe design. Classical golf shoes are still dominant but have lost market share consistently in the last 10 years."

Adidas were also one of the first manufacturers to introduce soft spikes, which are becoming ever more popular with golfers and green keepers alike, to their range. Most of the new shoes in their range offer the fast twist system which makes it easier to change from metal to soft spikes.

Presently there are 13 shoes to chose from in the mens range, 8 in the womans and 3 in the childrens. The prices range from about £40 to £100, depending on the retailer etc.

All Adidas golf shoes come with a 30 day comfort plus guarantee. If you are not completely confident in the comfort, fit or performance of your shoes, you can return them within 30 days for a full refund. I think this is a pretty good guarantee as you usually know after the first couple of wears whether they are and good or not. I usually guage how good they are by the size of the blisters I get but I have to honestly say that my most recent Adidas purchase has left me blister free!!

Adidas have losts of fancy technology to boast about which helps with comfort and performance and I will not go into it too deeply but will say that they offer special cushioning in the midsole (eva midsole) and heel (torsion system) which I think really does make a difference to the comfort factor of their shoes. Their new Z traxion range is "engineered to deliver superior traction and stability for swing and comfort for walking"

All of their waterproof shoes (and that covers most of the range) come with a 2 year waterproof warranty.

If you would like to find out more about Adidas shoes, visit their website, www.adidasgolf.com which is easy to navigate and has information about all their products. It only gives RRP's for price and some of the shoes advertised on the site are available only in the USA but it is worth a visit if you are considering a new pair of golf shoes.

I have always found Adidas shoes durable and although I have only recently changed to soft spikes, the last two pairs of metal spikes lasted me for 3 years each which is pretty decent when you consider how far you walk for a round of golf!!!
