Mini brake Big performance
Review of Hope Mini by
Pritch
Advantages: Stops well, works in mud, doesn't fade
Disadvantages: Can be a little trying to get fitted correctly, can be noisy at times
...is somewhat bigger, with options of 165 and 185mm at the front, and 145 and 165mm at the back. Hope have also chosen this brake to be the first to benefit from their new bubble rotor design, the disc itself being a strange lumpy shape instead of round, for no apparent reason.
The brake is supplied assembled by the factory, so you don't need to worry about getting brake fluid everywhere, unless you need to shorten the hose. The brake comes with a hose designed for big monster downhill bikes, so my tiny XC bike need some modifications to be carried out. Simple enough, spanner to take the hose off with, knife to cut it, and some DOT 5.1 brake fluid from your nearest Halfords (in the car section, not bikes!). As anyone who has ever bled the braking system on a car will tell you, getting the air out is a pain, although as later found out, it goes...

shinpads
Review of Nike Air Shield Shinguard by
johnnyg4
Advantages: comfortable
Disadvantages: pricy
...I have brought a new pair of shinpads recently which are nike air. I have never worn shinpads as comfortable as these. Others usually are to chunky and surprisingly heavy but nike airs are so light you dont even know they are strapped to your legs they are there staped to your legs. Also I have never worn shinpads that are as comfortable as nike airs. They cost fifteen pounds which is quite expensive, but the price ranges for mens or boys. The protection is good but could be a bit better....

12ft 2lb 9oz
Review of E.S.P. terry hearn carp rod by
101riggers
Advantages: great for playing fish on
Disadvantages: Quite soft butt section
...Terry Hearn 12ft 2lb 9oz
The rod: built with a full length duplon handle and fuji real seat, stainless steel collars cap the reel seat and handle of, a line clip is neatly whipped onto the blank, and silicon carbide rings anre used from a three legged butt ring to 2 legs to save weight on all other rings.
An absolutely cracking rod to play fish on, with a nice through action and forgiving tip to prevent hook pulls. Optimum casting leads are around 3oz and the rod is capable of distances to around 120yards in the right conditions.
The rod does struggle with pva work though and small bags only are advised. All in all it is a superb margin to midrange rod with a high build quality and varnish....
