I have just started putting my bicycle to use after many years of being in the garage. I brought it will all the best intentions of using it every weekend to get fit but never really got round to doing it!

I had to invest in a helmet, so went along to Halfords to find out what they had to offer. I was shocked at how they have changed in design, technology and price!

I chose this helmet and cost £25.00 which was one of the cheapest they had. But you can't put a price on your health.

The shape has drastically improved, making the design of it better and more wearable. The helmet covers the top part of my head and has straps that come down and under my chin with a pad for my chin to rest on.

It came in a choice of either red or blue and being a girl I chose red. both of the colours are really nice and look almost metallic.

At the front of the helmet, there is a sun visor which is great as while your wearing it shields your eyes from the sun and shades your eyes if the sky is bright too. You can take this off as it clips on and off.

The top of the helmet has several long shaped holes which are to cool you down whilst riding. As I was riding along my head didn't feel hot or sweaty. the holes allow the heat to escape from your head.

Inside the helmet there is the layer of what I can only describe as felt. It's quite thick and provides you with a comfort fit. It feels very comfortable when I am wearing it and feels really light.

Research shows that by wearing bike helmets you will reduce the incidence and severity of head, brain and upper facial injuries if you fall off.
We where taught at school that we should always wear a helmet to be safe and it has stuck. I think that the new design of helmets will appeal to the younger generation who are most likely to ride their bikes more often to visit friends.

This helmet and all the others are a must buy for bike riders. It will protect your head if you fall off and I would pay more than £24.99 if it ment that I was safe.
If you do fall off and the helmet is cracked as a result then you shoud throw it away and replace it as it will no longer be able to protect you from a further fall.
