Advantages: The rugs are watertight even in torrential rain Disadvantages: When used on my Welsh Cobs they tended to rub the shoulders
...I have owned and shown horses, mainly Welsh Cobs, for around eight years. I was first introduced to Rambo Rugs some seven years ago. Once tried I never used anything else. I found them to be watertight even in a huge downpour even at the seams. Even when very wet the rugs were still reasonably lightweight to carry and dry - often drying quite easily in a barn or tack room overnight. The only problem I had with the rugs was a slight tendency to rub on the horse's shoulder - this did not happen to every horse - and those where it occurred the use of a small "bib" under the rug soon solved the problem. In summer, during the showing season, the Rambo light was a godsend. After washing a grey horse I was quite happy to turnout to the field and no that he would come in quite clean the following morning. I prefer the traditional Rambo...

Advantages: Warm and comfortable Disadvantages: Not easy to get on
...the suit however it often becomes trapped and warmed through the body heat, the seals at wrist, ankle and neck are more water tight to ensure this happens.
Lesson over so how does the Pinnacle Stealth perform. This is a 7mm one piece semi dry with a woven Merino wool material on the inside which provides excellent insulation and is very comfortable next to the skin. As I said before this is not the easiest suit to get into, neither is it that easy to get out of and you definitely need the help of your dive buddy especially when getting out of it. The reason it is so awkward is that entry is through the neck seal and thus s rather tight, once in there is a fitted hood and a bib front that comes over the head and secures down with two Velcro and two press – studs, the material of the bib is quite rigid and feels like you are wearing thin body...

Advantages: Tough, effective, fit Disadvantages: Not cheap
...are equally tough and large enough to make them easy to do up and undo, even if your horse fidgets about. or in the dark.
Rugs vary hugely in cut. The Rambo is generously cut so you do not have to buy a bigger than usual size. They are also cut quite deep so they are great for a broad or deep barreled horse or pony. In fact they are one of the few brands I have come across that seem to suit both horses and ponies.
Appearence is fairly irrelevant as any turnout rug will soon be covered in mud, but these look pretty smart and are available in a range of colours.
My horse was very comfortable in his Rambo. He wore it 24-7, all winter and never became rubbed, even with no bib underneath. He was able to move freely and was happy to gallop and roll about like an idiot in it.
When I sold the horse (a whole other story!), I sold the Rambo to a friend...

A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian doesn't sound like a book that's worth reading, does it? But it's deceptive. It's not written in Ukrainian, it's not a translation from a book written in Ukrainian and it's not really about tractors. The title... more
