...or anti-clockwise in each lane, and feature handy arrows for the horologically challenged. Despite this there does tend to be the odd person swimming in the opposite direction to everyone else. The more pro-active lifeguards will have a word, others seem content to sit back and enjoy the anarchy. Curiously the lanes are not 'speed rated', something that the regular lane swimmers find very frustrating. This is really unusual in lane swimming sessions: the slower swimmers don't enjoy having fast swimmers charging past them and the faster swimmers don't enjoy overtaking a convoy of slower swimmers in a narrow lane. It's puzzling why this situation exists as other pools managed by the same group have speed rated lanes.
