Megane 1.5dci Dynamique (80)

Advantages: Economy, reliability, comfort
Disadvantages: small boot

I've owned a 1.5DCI Dynamique from new (2004) and have covered 63,000 miles. Had a couple of minor things fixed under warranty, door handle paint and steering column knock(?), despite not buying the car from a Main Dealer they honoured warranty repairs. Cheap Road Tax, Car Insurance, comfortable, lots of toys and economical. The only unusual fault was an intermittent STOP / OIL indication, which lasted a day or two - suspected wet electrics when the car was serviced by a non-Renault garage. At the time I was a bit unnerved by the complexity of the electronic systems, 7 units talking hooked up to diagnostics, but it settled down. That was 6,000 miles ago though. Interestingly the stalling of the rear wash wipe (common) is a s/w fault, in my case I didn't bother mentioning this until the STOP light problem, but it could have beenfixed ...

Comfy Days by the Bay

Advantages: Clean, simple, cheap, good location
Disadvantages: can be noisy in front of hotel rooms

I recently spent a very pleasent 6 nights in the Comfort Inn by the Bay in sunny San Francisco. The building itself is typical of hotels within this chain, simple, basic, no frills, but comfortable and pleasent enough to stay in. The entrance lobby is not vast, but big enough that it can easily accomodate several groups of people as you wait to check in/check out, etc. It has a few casual sofas, some hardback chairs, payphones and plenty of leaflets and similar about all things local. There is staff on reception 24/7 which is handy, and we found them very helpful. Being our first time abroad we where confused about the telephone codes and numbers, but they patiently went through it with us on more than one occasion! There are only 2 lifts, which I must admit did prove to be a pain. We were on the ninth floor and sometimes seemed ...

Down By The Bay

Advantages: Lots to do, reasonably priced holiday, excellent staff
Disadvantages: The hill

. Each of these pools were wonderful although we didn't actually go in the outdoor pool in October as it was a bit nippy by then. As well as the entertainment spot in the Manor there is also a small amusements area with slots and penny drops as well as a few video games. This wasn't as obtrusive as in some holiday centres we have been in and it was quite easy to steer the kids away from them. Further on you can find a soft play area for the under 5's. This wasn't as big as some I've seen but my son had plenty of fun in it and made quite a few friends there. Also in the Manor were the Takeaway and the Restaurant where you could get anything from a simple cup of coffee to a full main meal. Prices looked pretty reasonable but we made all our own meals as we were in a self-catering chalet. I can say that the hot chocolate was lovely ...
