we watched several people doing so - this is a fantastic spectator sport and makes me laugh every single time. The willing victim gets attached to a giant elastic rope, shuffles out from the bridge on a narrow platform, a bit like walking the plank, then hurls themselves off into the void. At that point, they swear, scream or remain numb with terror as they drop like a stone. Some people carry on screaming the whole way through the activity. Then they are lowered down to the river, released from their rope and are winched back up again in a motorised chairlift.

Advantages: Cheap. Disadvantages: Will not last forever.
This review is on polypropylene rope, which was introduced in 1957, it is made from a thermoplastic polymer, but we are "knot" interested in that, I hope!
No size is given by Ciao, neither diameter nor length so prices will have to be taken from t'internet. Just remember, if buying by mail order, the "hitch" may be that the cost of postage may be prohibitive unless buying a lot.
The term rope used to be a size, it was one hundred and twenty fathoms, this was a standard size because it was the length of the ropewalk where it was made. The size nowadays can be endless, because man made rope comes out of little holes in a machine, so can be any length. The standard length of a coil though, is still 120 fathoms, 720 feet, or 220 meters as they call it nowadays.

If you're on holiday for a few days or a few weeks, you may well choose a boutique hotel. After all, you will likely be spending a fair amount of time in it. However, if you are just attending your office Christmas Party in what might as well be Outer Mongolia (Hatfield), you'd think a cheap and cheerful hotel would do. And indeed it would, were they not all booked up the night of said booze up. However, for guests attending events at Hatfield House, Beales Hotel, a modern, 4 star establishment offer, during the week, bed and breakfast at £90 for a double. Having checked the cab fare between Hatfield and Hampton, and discovered it was £90, I duly booked myself and my husband into Beales Hotel.
