The Berghaus GR20 GTX boots are particularly suitable for wet, muddy terrain, especially where there may be plenty of undergrowth. They are suitable for any length hike although for a short one I might go for a lighter boot but they are a very comfy boot to wear all day ...

It doesn't matter which Hawaiian Island you visit you'll always be welcomed with a Lei, (necklace of flowers) and a friendly Aloha. I believe that Maui is just a bit larger than Oahu and that makes it the second largest Island. There are about 125,00 people living here.
When our Children were younger they like to go to Maui, Hawaii. Today there are flights that take you non-stop to the Island. When we went you had to go to Honolulu and transfer either to Hawaiian Air or Aloha Airlines. The flight takes less than half and hour. It always amazed me how the Flight Attendance were able to serve drinks in such a short time.

Advantages: No Language Barrier (well if you speak English!) Disadvantages: Long Distance, Need a Hire car.
We've now been across to Hawaii (mainly Maui twice now). The first time in March 1999, and the most recent September 2000. We were based in the small town of Kahana in a condo, on the west coast, for both of our trips.
We wanted to go to Hawaii for the great scenery and to get a relaxing time away from our usual lifestyle. We went as a couple, this is all I'd really recommend Maui for, from a British visitors point of view. You could visit Maui and enjoy if you're young or old.
Get accomodation on your own, make sure you have a kitchen. We found ours on:
