...Berghaus have been one of the most popular outdoor brands for as many years as I can remember, yet the company seems to provide kit that seems as functional on the High Street as well as up in the high country. Take their Men's Paclite Trek Jacket, for instance - ostensibly a lightweight, waterproof mountain walking jacket but which both looks and acts the part down the local shops. The Paclite Trek is available in two colours: Mazzarine Blue and Black - both have large black panels across the top of the back and shoulders, plus along the bottom quarter length. Said panels are made from an abrasion-resistant material - you're more likely to wear the shoulders a bit because of rucksack or daysack straps. Advantages: very comfortable, all day 3-4 season boot, all terrain, fully laden
Disadvantages: initial outlay is large but they will last for years. no half sizes

...for several days on the trot. They are suitable for most terrains and although not a mountaineers boot they are suitable for scrambling over rocks. They are classed as a 3 to 4 season boot which indicates they are suitable for all seasons except real bad winter conditions. The winters we get here now are fine but heavy, prolonged freezing cold conditions would require a more specialised boot as would climbing or scrambling in icy surroundings. These boots are also very suitable for use when carrying a fully laden multi-day backpack. The Berghaus GR20 GTX boots are available in either women?s or men?s; women?s sizes range from a 36 to a 42, men?s range from 39 to a 48. ...The Cornice IA is a waterproof coat manufactured by the Berghaus company. Berghaus have a background in manufacturing clothes and equipment for walkers, hikers and campers, which is why this particular coat is grouped under "sporting goods". The Cornice is man's design - the equivalent woman's style is branded as a Glissade. The jacket is made from a Gore-Tex material. This is clever material that is manufactured under licence from WL Gore Ltd. The material is a high-tech way of being waterproof. The material is three-layered: the middle one is made with tiny holes. These are too big to let water droplets through [therefore waterproof], but are large enough to let water vapour through.
