Advantages: light , quick and easy to inflate/deflate, extremely comfortable Disadvantages: initial outlay is a little expensive but not unreasonably so.
...This is a sleeping pad and is rather like an inflatable air mattress in many ways. We backpack in many places and our favourite way, when we have the time, is to hike for several days. When we do this we have to carry everything with us that we need and as you can imagine every ounce counts. I must admit that I do like a bit of comfort and the BigAgnes REM AirCorePad does supply this (REM just stands for ‘rest easy mama).
BigAgnes make 2 types of aircorepad, the rectangular and the mummy. The mummypad tapers at the ends and is a similar shape to a coffin. I prefer the rectangular mainly because I like the extra room at my head. We have had ours some time and now they make an insulated version of these pads. They have also made an upgrade kit for the aircore which you can buy instead of having to buy the whole pad set up, which...

Advantages: Lightweight, Decent Protection Disadvantages: Easy To Be Given Out
....
The front of the pad is where the real modulus technology comes in, and oddly enough where I have my first problem. Now, I'm not in any shape to go into the LBW law of cricket, but save to say that having a distinct panel slap bang in the middle of the pad, kind of lends itself to getting yourself out. If you get hit on this part of the pad, the ball will inevitably leave a mark, making it pretty clear to the umpire *exactly* where the ball hit you.
This strip is where the pads get their name. The modules hane a gel foam filled core with extensive air pockets, giving a higher level of cushioning when the ball strikes them. The remainder of the front of the pad is of the same ridges that you will find in 99% of pads on the market. They are designed to deflect the ball more than provide real protection, but perform this function fine...

Advantages: Durable, comfortable, Disadvantages: hate to admit that anything from Nike is quality
...of a game then the shin pad still stays in place and can hold its own. The straps are carefully designed and do not dig in to youre legs when playing.
The shinpads should not be placed in a machine machine and should only be hand washed with a damp cotton cloth. The reason being the ankle straps wil lose support and the shin pad itself can be damaged again through the air gap while spinning in the washer.
I must say that these shinpads are the most durable and reliable pads I have had in a long time. Mine have taken numerous knockings and still work perfectly. Comfortable, long lasting and durable, everything you want from a shin pad. I would definetely recomend purchasing them. I got mine from www.nike.com however I have recently seen them in a JJB store....
