Keep your toes dry while you cycle

Advantages: keep your feet dry
Disadvantages: wear out quickly

Endura MT500 overshoe If you cycle for pleasure or out of necessity then there will come a day when your feet get soaked and, as a result, cold. That’s where these overshoes come into their own. While they will not always keep your feet perfectly dry they will keep them warm. Formed from stretchy, windproof and waterproof material and with reflective trim for added safety, they are designed to fit quite snugly over cycling shoes and if you cycle ...
...seems to extend to many Endura products; zips that pull apart when you try to pull them up. A year to 18months life is about average for these zips; though by then the elastic hem is probably frayed anyway. Some folks find that the zips break within a few uses. A fault with certain competitors overshoes is that they are made of thinner material and the struggle to stretch them around the cycle shoe can tear the material. In balance, considering the ...

Great for the plates of meat

Advantages: Stylish, durable, comes with cleats for clipping in, you can actually walk in them off the bike
Disadvantages: You won't be accepted by 'roadies' in them, can't fit waterproof over shoes over them

****Preamble**** There are two main types of cycling shoe, one for off road and mountain bikers (“MTB shoes”) and one for road racing riders)”RR shoes”. Being a road cyclist (who uses both a racer and a mountain bike, depending upon the weather and road conditions) I originally bought a pair of RR shoes but after a few weeks use and a few close shaves (I nearly came a cropper in them on numerous occasions) I changed them for a pair of MTB ...
...and RR shoes**** Both MTB shoes and RR shoes are similar in that they are designed to allow the wearer to cycle more efficiently hence allowing them to go further and faster than if wearing conventional shoes or trainers. This is where the similarity ends though. Both MTB shoes and RR shoes have cleats on them, although they are very different. Cleats are small pieces of metal that are pushed in to a clip located on the pedals, effectively locking ...

An excellent and versatile budget SPD shoe!!

Advantages: Comfortable, Supportive, Great looks, Bargain price, Good Grips
Disadvantages: Cold in winter, Not waterproof, Shimano sizing system

...recently purchased a pair of Shimano M072 shoes for use with a pair of Shimano M520 SPD pedals. I managed to pick up the shoes for around £20.00 new which for that price I would say is a total bargain!! The Shimano M072 SPD shoes have Mountain Bike style recessed cleats which make the shoes a lot easier to walk around in than the road style cleats, and pretty good rubber grips on the bottom which stop you sliding around in mud. I am actually using ...
...would be worth noting. Shimano have a quite a strange sizing system. I am a size 8 normally which in European sizes is a 42. The Shimano shoes are sized using European sizes, however it is worth buying the size above what you would normally buy as they are slightly smaller. I also found that during winter the shoes can be quite cold as they are really well vented. This makes them ideal for hot summer riding but a pair of thick socks are needed when ...

Polaris MR 5000 - must have cycling shoes

Advantages: Everything about this shoes and idea of having that type of shoes
Disadvantages: none

...explain you how strong, tough Polaris MR5000 are and useful. Thus after one year of seriously hard service it is enough to clean them and they look like brand new. Sole is very stiff. Competition thread & front metal screw-in studs are for extra grip. That helps pedalling and makes your feet not getting tired so quickly. Another big plus of hard soil is - that work as kind of safety shoes when on bicycle. When raining in normal shoes and pedals your ...
...buy overshoes separately. Polaris MR5000 is compatible with SPD pedals only. Am using shimano cleats with them and pedals. Altogether everything works perfect. Feet feels very comfortble inside and is not getting sweat. When deciding for such a shoes remember to buy one size higher than you need. Shoes itself are very lightweigh and nicely designed. I am extremely satisfied with this shoes and can recommend them to all cyclists as I think they are ...

Advantages: Very well priced entry to SPD pedalling.
Disadvantages: Cumbersome, heavy and insensitive for road bking.

...reality. This is your answer. Shimano have sized the pair I have at 48 ! - maybe they are thinking of ages rather than foot sizes. Even when I am trying to get shoes that have plenty of space for my leg extensions, I never go above a UK size of 12 - or 46 in these euro sizes. But Shimano require me to go for 48! And this issue with Shimano is well documented. So if you are a diminutive person with size 4 shoes and long to be able to tell folk ...
...of mountain bikes. *********************************** Shimano have been helpful in giving these shoes an MT prefix - intended to inform purchasers and suppliers, that these are perfectly suited to cyclists whose preferred form of sport is on muddy tracks up mountain sides! This fully explains the thickness of sole, the depth of tread and the general weight of the shoes. It is anticipated that the owner will want to walk and climb in these boots ...
