Baggy Brilliance

Advantages: Comfort, Durability, Leaves your bits hidden from show, Cycling fit
Disadvantages: Weak belt, Baggy-ish so can catch on saddle

...And this is where the Endura Humvee 3/4 trousers/shorts come into play. So they may have a stupid name, but they manage to keep my knees warm while riding, and I've ever found the need to indulge in a specific winter cycling trouser with these in the wardrobe. Coming in either black or khaki there's a choice for any taste (well, okay, maybe just a black or khaki taste) and there are pockets galore for storing 'stuff'. Because they're cut specifically ...
...mean if you were carrying, say, a bunch of keys they wouldn't be digging in, or sitting somewhere that tightens too much with the cycling action. They seem pretty well made as well. I wear them every single day for commuting, as well as for mountain biking, and even for a couple of 100 mile rides. Comfort has never been an issue, and nothing has ever worn through. There can be a slight issue (given they are slightly baggy) if you happen to catch ...

Does my Bum Look Big in This?

Advantages: Comfort, Durable, Good padded Insert
Disadvantages: Expensive

...a medium for normal clothing. Endura are a little better sizewise - their mediums seem to be a little larger than other manufacturers. It is however important to check the size guides, and even better try before you buy. I bought my MT500's online, and chose a large, and it fits fine. I do however have other Endura clothing and so had something to gauge my buying decision against. Construction wise the MT500's are solidly built. The lycra is thick ...
...well designed and of good quality, and I find it comfortable on the bike, although you do get a slight nappy effect. A year on they're still going strong. On average, they're worn once a week, thrown in the washing machine usually still plastered in mud, chucked over the line, and they still come out looking pretty fresh. The pad is holding up well, and still has plenty of cushioning. The seams have all held. I've come off a few times, and the only ...

Being Mr Motivator

Advantages: Very comfortable, great fitting, easy access zip, generous chamois pad
Disadvantages: Only available in black

...until I stumbled across the DHB Merston bib. Unfortunately, I do not have the disposable funds available to purchase the top of the range kit, such as Assos, and judging by what I have read I don’t have the correct shape body (I have heard that the Italian sizing is very small and your body needs to be in perfect proportion, which mine most definitely is not), so my requirements were for a half decent pair of ¾ bottoms, that are durable with a thick ...
...the same name, which was DHB Merston. What’s more, these ¾ bib tights got rave reviews (as well as a few bad but then that is to be expected) and scored 9/10 from Road Cycling UK. The manufacturers description states “Made from wind resistant thermo-stretch fabric. Fleecy lined fabric keeps you warm, even when it’s wet. Double layer knee keeps your joints warm. Stretchy bib keeps your kidneys warm”. Everything mentioned warm, and being a person that ...

...my search to Assos and Polaris since these seemed to be popular and represented good value for money. After finding a few pairs on Ebay the decision was made to purchase a bib made Polaris, and the particular model was the Raptor. ****Polaris Raptor Bib**** This bib set is designed in Nylex that, as claimed by Polaris, has “superior stretch and rebound qualities”. It’s basically really tight fitting lycra and whilst not the most flattering material ...
...is very limited. Even if Polaris decided not to introduce any other colours they should give the option of having the bib set in black only. ****Price and availability**** The Polaris Raptor bib shorts can be purchased from many online and offline retailers. At the time of writing they can be bought for £49.95 (excluding P&P) from Greville Enterprises, £32.00 (excluding P&P) from Chain Reaction Cycles and £49.99 (plus free delivery from Bodywise ...

Helly Hansen Long Sleeve Shirt

Advantages: Comfortable with superb wicking properties
Disadvantages: Creases a bit in the wash.

I spent hours and hours researching which shirt would be the best for long distance running. Having come to the realisation that a cotton T shirt is vile to run in once you start sweating. The majority of comments I read or heard were full of praise for this shirt and rightly so. Its wicking properties are fantastic and although it is a base layer I wear it on its own and find it keeps me warm enough at the moment (and I feel the cold), but with ...
...It does say it is for cooler to cold weather wear though. It removes moisture from the body very efficiently and is very comfortable to wear. All the seams are flat and I haven\'t experienced any chaffing anywhere. It washes well but does come out a bit creased (and stays creased) if you spin dry it (maybe hand washing would be advisable). It is a pain to iron too, but so long as you aren\'t too much of a prima dona about how you look it's not ...
