I got a pair of the tendon wraps for my horse after she was diagnosed with bone spavin last year. More so as an aid for the fusing of the joints in her hock and as something to help prevent premature stiffening and also for her general comfort and well being. When i bought these boots i actually spoke to the help team at Bioflow who answered my questions enthusiastically as i was quite skeptical about magnetic boots for a start. I wondered whether they did actually help or whether it was just an imaginary thing.
I opted to go for the wraps, as my primary time of use was going to be when the horse was in her stable through the night. The brushing boots seem to have a tough strike pad which i felt may not be as good for in the stable and i also didn't think that it would have the same degree of flexibility and comfort when the horse was lying down. I also pop them on for half an hour before i ride.
The magnets within the boots increase the blood flow around the joints and as a result in my case fusion of the joints will happen quicker and the horse will be more comfortable during the process. Also by using the wraps before i ride the muscles are warmed up prior to getting on which in turn helps to prevent any muscle damage due to the horse not being warmed up sufficiently. I do this before i do dressage as sometimes, especially through the winter months it is not always possible to do a full warm up, especially when the ground is particullarly hard.
The wraps come as standard in back and have the Bioflow brand stamped onto the velcro straps. They are fully washable and i have been told by the people at Bioflow that they come with a lifetime guarentee. They only loose a slight fraction of their magnatism over a year. This to me is a great feature as you are safe in the knowledge that they are going to last. Bioflow are so confident about their product that they actually told me that should my wraps become tatty and torn at any stage i can send them back along with the magnets in them and they will replace the old outer wraps for new outers and it will only cost half of the new complete cost, so you can basilcally have a brand new pair for half the cost should you replace them for brand new. They are fully machine washable and dry quickly when hung outside on the line to dry naturally. They do not make the horses legs sweat as they are made from almost like a mesh type material and are completely breathable. The wraps do come in different sizes to support the length of cannon bone but as they are designed as wraps they fasten with velcro fastenings around any thickness of leg. My horse has particularly skinny legs and the wraps fit well and stay on with no problems
I have certainly noticed a difference in my horses way of going. She doesn't appear to be stiff when i take her out of the stable in the mornings and her hocks seem to be more elastic when she is having a hooly in the field with her friends. Had i not have spoken to the people at Bioflow and tried a pair for myself i would never have believed the results which they produce. But please note, they are not just for a horse with stiffness problems. They are benificial to all horses of all shapes and sizes what ever the discipline they take part in

All the Bioflow things work well. I wear one myself - my dog has a collar as have various cats. I wish I had known about these when we had horses too! Hazel xx
