issue in Blackburn Mars 3.0 is when replacing batteries you need to unscrew 3 tiny screws. Is not a big deal as do not have to do it often. It has three modes: slow flashing, fast one (almost like strobe) and viper style but up side down. My most favourite is fast flah. Altogether Blackburn Mars is the greatest bicycle rear light I have ever had in my life. I like absolutely everything in it. It is nicely designed and you can rely on it. Light which gives is super bright and if anyone would knock you - he should get a ban from driving. Unless claimed that was dazzled by this light. As I mentioned in the beginning - I can highly recommend and suggest Blackburn Mars 3.0 to every single person with bicycle in home. The price is not high. It is value for money. SMART SM317R Superflash Rear Cycle Light

Advantages: Very Bright, easy to use, price

I've used the same rear cycle light for ages and thought that it was perfectly visible. I recently read a review of this the SMART SM317R in a magazine where they raved on about how bright it was for such a cheap price. In this day and age where if you are a cyclist you need to do your upmost to be seen, I thought i'd get one.....for the grand sum of £10.50 on ebay!!!!! Before you switch it on, it looks like any other light, but when you switch it on that's where the similarities end......... ......this light is BRIGHT!!!! Not only is it bright, but it has the same flashing pattern as an emergency vehicle flashing lights, which draws even more attention to you. Safe brightness in a small package

Ever since the law changed to allow cyclists to use flashing LED lights (as long as they are bright enough) there has been a noted change in the safety of riders after dark, and efforts by the companies making these items to outdo each other by producing the brightest and most notable sets of lights. Blackburn have recently upped the ante with a number of lights, and while at the front they have gone large and effective with the Quadrant, on the rear the Mars 3.0 (named after the red planet) proves just as effective at making sure other road users will see you.
