And then the frame gave out on me, but with my mind decided I set about building up a fixed wheel bike of my own. The Fixie Inc Peacemaker frame comes from Germany, designed by a couple of cycle couriers over there. At the time it was available for £295 (frame and lovely chromed forks) from online retailer 'hubjub', but Mosquito Bikes is now the official retailer in the UK - the new version of the frame, however, now comes in at £415. A few details have changed, but giving the new bike the once over at the Cycle Show I can't see that much is different from the frame I bought. ALL SPACED OUT

Disadvantages: Not flexible enough to fit every set up.

The Company Design Make Ride is a British company. Begun in 1995 they focus on the more extreme side of mountain biking. BSX, slalom, 4X, jumping and freestyle. To Single Speed Or Not To Single Speed Single speeds, and their track equivalent fixies, have seen a resurgence in the last couple of years. Single speeds are about as retro as you can get. Your dad, or more likely your granddad would have ridden a single speed bike. So Why Single Speed? Fitness. Climbing hills on a single speed requires commitment from the rider. You can't just slip your bike into a lazy gear, you have to go for it. This either means standing up on the pedals to deliver power at low pedal speeds, or remain sitting down and use high cadence (high pedal speed) to reach the top. Review of DMR Single Speed Spacer Kit

stay away from cda

Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: will break down

CDA are very poor, I had a whole kitchen full of these integrated white goods, looked great and did their job for the first year until things started going wrong. Anyway, to cut a long story short, they are poor quality items that will break not long after there 1st year replace for free no quibble warranty is up, they'll offer to fix for free but can't (or say they can't) so that they can flog you another at a reduced price. I was duped into buying another washer this way, thinking well I was just unlucky. My other items, fridge freezer cooker etc have also blown and again they can't fix.I won't be buying anymore. You get what you pay for, pay a little extra and hopefully you won't suffer as me and my wife have. Stay away from CDA ...
