...Having just completed 1000 mile Lands End- John Ogroats on a super galaxy I can do nothing but praise it. Before starting the trip it was about 3yrs old and had been cycled hard. I made some slight modifications an put on spd cleats, suspention seat post and Terrys saddle and Panracer kevlar slik tyres. I cycled through some appalling weather but the bike was as fresh when I finished as when I started.
None of the spoks loosened and when cycling at speed the ridgidity got me out of some tight scrapes. My next trip is Winchester to Santiago in northern Spain . Spring 2001.
If you want to do a cycle ride do the end to end....

Advantages: cheap Disadvantages: easy to damage, doesnt look good, too light
...I do not think, that wintecs are good saddles. They are made from textil instead of leather and that means, it is very easy to damage. I have once seen a dressage rider on a competition, using an old wintec saddle and it looked really horrible. Like if she would use an old pullover on a horse back. Also I think, that these saddles are too light and thats not good. It doesnt protect the horse back from your weight and it keeps moving instead of lying still. True, they are cheap and easy to care about, but who wants to sit on a wet saddle? (the only way to wash it is with water). My opinion is, that leather saddles are much better. I know, that there was a big boom, everybody bought wintec saddles, but somehow nobody has them anymore....

Advantages: light weight, comfortable and no soap!! Disadvantages: picks up hair slightly.
...Ive got a wintec synthetic saddle and i've had it for about a year!! I cant stand the smell of saddle soap and it makes my hands all sticky and horrible ewww!! With a wintec synthetic saddle i dont have to use saddle soap at all!!! Its amazing!! All I have to do is wipe it over with a damp cloth when im finished riding and TADAR!!! its clean!!!!! No smelly saddles soap to be seen!!
My horse is a rescue horse so can ocasionally be nervous and with my old leather saddle she would sometimes move away when i went to put it on because it was so heavy and probably uncomfortable for her. So I bought this wintec saddle and its so light weight that im sure she hardly even notices it's there! Its easy for my to carry around, I can easily take it to the stables on my bike which would have been completely impossible with my heavy leather saddle...
