This will be quite a short review as it doesn't take very long to write about THE most pointless exercise tool I've ever seen.
Bodymax handgrips are designed to strengthen the forearms and hands........but why? Is it for old ladies, so that they can open particulary stubborn jars of beetroot? perhaps its for men who require a quicker, more powerful "beer drinking" arm, or maybe its for teenage boys as these items seem to find there way into every adolescent lads room. Now who is it buying these things that seem to think teenage boys need help strengthening their wrists (hmmmmm)?
Now apparently they are designed to get rid of tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome, but without being funny, I'm sure there's not a big enough market out there for these two ailments alone. For one thing, were all rubbish at tennis (sorry Mr Murray) and my friend thinks the carpal tunnel is just outside of Bristol. So who is it that is buying these ridiculous devices.
Well, I've got a pair, my mate chris has, infact so does his brother and most of his friends. So I started asking questions and the answer was resounding
"My nan got them for me"...........
Yes ladies and gentleman, despite the fact that these useless things are a clever design using an ugly mixture of plastic......and steel........it would appear that they are irresistable to the older eye. No more crappy jumpers and socks for christmas, gran has found a new present for under a fiver.
"ooohhh he said he wanted to get fit"
"he likes his sport doesn't he"
"do footballers use these?"
These are just some of the sayings that grans all over the country will be asking upon purchase. Your nan has just invested £5 towards the new you......
and Imagine little jonny's delight as he unwraps his new handgrips. caressing the moulded plastic in his hands, desperatly trying to force out one repetition in front of his older sister but failing miserably.
"How many do I have to do each day" he asks excitedly. About a 1000 is the ignorant but somewhat amusing reply from dad, knowing that the little lads flea like forearms will be burning after 5 repetitions and his hands will be blistered beyond recognition.
Unfortunately, in true handgrip style, they will be cast aside quicker than a tamagochi, laid to rest in a pile of other unwanted gifts at the bottom of his wardrobe in under a week, only to be found 15years later to the cries of.........."hang on is it davids birthday coming up"?
And so, in conclusion, and in advice to any grans out there thinking about buying these pointless little items, go for the jumper and socks, they will embarras your beloved grandchildern for much much longer than the bodymax handgrips.
Hope that helps :) If you are interested £3.99 from amazon or 25p from the local car boot sale!!!!!
