...machines (between 2-6 of each machine). They cover just about everything; there are steppers, several running machines, plenty of cross trainers, 4 rowers, 4 recumbentcycles and 2 normal cycles. They also have a full range of weights machines and free weights. They have made sure that there's an adequate supply of the most popular machines such as the runners and cross trainers, these are always the first to get used up at peak times. The machines are quite tightly packed in, but they are sensibly arranged in lines so you can get between them easily enough (well, depending on excess pork-pie consumption I suppose). It's also air-conditioned, not that it stops me going fire-engine red when running though!
There's cardio theatre so you can workout whilst watching the tv or listening to the radio on headphones. There's no way I would join a gym...

...gymnasium, is where the challenge really starts. It is spacious, bright, and air-conditioned, with a huge one way glass wall running a whole length of the room, offering views over the beach and entrance to Brighton marina. I couldnt really imagine a nicer place to work out.
The equipment is modern and plentiful. I use the cardio vascular stuff the most- upright and recumbant exercise bikes, cross-trainers, stair climbers, rowing machines, and other instruments of torture, which make me lose pounds just by looking at them.....
These machines have built in access to the multi channel tv cable system, but you need your own headphones.
I was taught how to use the equipment properly on my first visit after enrollment, ( induction ), and the qualified and friendly staff are always on hand for advice.

Advantages: Spacious, comfortable, friendly well equipped gym. Disadvantages: Oh dear, it has a bar!
.... The girls on reception are
very friendly (and also very attractive) and can help or point you in the direction of someone who can help at any time. Staff assist with training programmes, and they all seem very knowledgeable. In addition there are several personal trainers who can be hired. Notably a number of sessions are currently being offered leading to the Great North Run. (only for the very brave)
LAYOUT
The gym is spread out over two levels. downstairs there is a reception area, changing rooms, a bar/ cafe, a hairdressers and a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a hair salon.
Upstairs there is a cardio area, two weight/ resistance areas and rooms for classes.
The whole building is air conditioned.
EQUIPMENT
All the equipment, cardio and resistance is Technogym. There are approximately:

This excersise bike is great for the price, it has a sensor in the hand grip that monitors your pulse wholst you are on the bike, has a screen which is quite big so very clear to see that you can check what your pulse is, how far you have cycled,... more
