The first time I ever saw Bridgedale hiking socks, I couldn't believe the price. It must be the same for many of the uninitiated, as that would explain how it is so easy to waste a smaller amount on something of far less quality.
In the case of looking after your feet out on the hill, you definately get what you pay for, and this is the case with the slightly pricey Bridgedale socks.
They are sized so that you can select something that won't wrinkle up in your boot causing blisters, but still allows wriggle room. Personally, as a pixie footed person, used to buying 'one size fits all' which blatently doesn't, the fact that socks can actually fit, and that this adds to comfort, was a revelation to me.
They are the sort of socks which really do feel great when you put them on. Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not saying you won't get blisters if you are spending all day on Scafell Pike, but the chances are much more likely if you wear rubbish socks.
I just wash mine in with everything else, and they do eventually go a bit thin, but all mine lasted a number of years of weekly wear before it got to that stage.
