Pick up
Stand back you would think Viv Richards was coming through. I'm Swaggering now - Don't wake me - i think I maybe,,,,, dreaming. It feels too good chap - I like the pick up, for a 2.14lb bat it really does feel lighter than it should, thats why I said it feels like a dream, but I kid you not. This is mainly thanks to the way the bat is made, I take my hat off to the manufacturer for doing a fine job in that regard.
Weight
The weight is a perfect balance, it is heavy enough to generate the power you need to get maximum value for your shots without compromising speed and maneuverability to deal with those difficult deliveries such as a fierce yorker which simply needs to be dug out. The weight is perfect to facilitate a full range of shots from cutting and pulling short deliveries to cover driving and playing short sharp shots such as the leg glance. The bat does not hamper any shot play. But the higher middle does lend itself towards driving. There is generally more power generated, the key is the timing it really is a stroke makers bat, rather than a power hitter.
Maintenance
The bat is durable, as long as it is well prepared before use, like with any bat due care should be taken to prepare it for maximum results. The bat ought to be knocked in for a minimum of 6 hours although you may put in an extra few to perfect the toe of the bat which is the most vulnerable. I would also recommend applying linseed oil to the back of the bat where there is no protective cover to safeguard against water saturation which may cause the bat to expand and shrink which will eventually weaken the wood. The protective sticker on the face of the bat will break over time at the edges so it may have to be secured by a few layers of cricket bat tape. A standard toe cover can also be used to add extra protection.
Comfort /Style
The bat has a relatively slim handle, which may not be ideal for everyone. If this is the case you may have to double up and add another grip. The original grip is of a very high quality and lasts a very long time and is fixed very well to the handle. The color scheme of the bat allows for a wide variety of replacement grips as there are a few very compatible designs which seem as though they are the original. The bat stickers are also very well designed and the bat is easy on the eye, it is aesthetically pleasing. But the Power label on the front face is the main course. The word power can have a psychological affect on the opposition especially if you are a confident batsman when you approach the crease and take guard, it can be used as a tool to begin the psychological warfare after all cricket is 50% Physical and 50% mental.
The Willow
The quality of the wood is also of a very high standard, it is made from English willow which is the finest wood available. The bat has over ten grains which provides maximum power in terms of wood strength. The wood looks and feels of a high quality as there are very few defects such as knots or breaks in the actual wood. Had it for two seasons and is still going strong, perfect for anyone who is still learning their game and maybe looking to try new shots. P.s it won't hamper your speed in between the wickets!
The Final Verdict
Has a very respectable manufacturer, widely used in international cricket with a reputation for quality, no matter what happens they are highly likely to be in business, in case you need something later on. I would recommend this bat - in fact I would push it like I wield it - with a passion !
