Advantages: Ride quality; Build Quality; Customer Service of Company Disadvantages: Can't ride it enough
...Three years ago I decided the time had finally come for me to build up my own mountain bike. Actually, the decision was made for me when I read a review in a magazine about the Cotic Soul. The test rider was the exact same height as me, and the frame of this bike seemed particularly suited to the type of riding I liked to do - I'm not interested in big jumps, or tricks, or drops. I like all-day cross country comfort, with fun coming from fast and twisty singletrack as well as tight, technical sections.
And so it was that I parted with £400 for a bright orange frame (inclusive of delivery and a seatpost quick release). At the time black and orange were the two colour options, this then became black and red, and is now black and 'custard'. The price, three years later, has only crept up £20 to £420.
The frame is Reynolds 853 steel...

Advantages: Central Disadvantages: No more sweat towels
...Good Points: The Staff are friendly.
Bad Points: Ever since Virgin Active took over Holmes Place it's been a really poor show. Virgin Active have been trying to reduce the towels they provide ever since they took over. They have now reduced the towels to one per person in most of the London clubs.
General comments: They say this initiative is for the environment. They have refused to bring back the small "sweat towel" and they demand a pound for an extra towel that they say they will give to charity. When asked if they will be donating the savings made to an environmental charity they say no. There is a petition to sign asking them to bring back the towels or give the money saved to charity: www.ipetitions.com/petition/towels/...

Advantages: genesis geometry, Good components Disadvantages: rather heavy forks, Fairl expensive
...This is an excellent bike either for upgrading or for the occasional off road rider. I mean the components are good but they will soon become worn and need changing, for example...the pedals. I had the bike 8 months and i had to change them for some DMR V8's, But i Had used the bike every day, so fairs fair.
The best bit about this bike is the genesis geometry it means that at every point of riding (descending, climbing etc) the bike puts you in the right position. Your weight back for descending and forward for climbing. And It actually works!! Wherever you point it, it will take you.
I am only slightly dissapointed about the forks (manitou sixs) though theyre pretty heavy and they dont really do much for soaking up small bumps. But they can be internally changed from 80mm to 100mm pretty easily.
Oh and it is a great looking bike black...
