The spec I chose was a firm graphite shaft with 10 degrees of loft. I opted not to go for the Pro-series version (as my handicap is 12) as this is not as forgiving.

The difference between the two is that the +Plus version has a greater COR (Coefficient of Restitution) i.e. put simply, this means the bounciness that the club head provides, hopefully meaning an extra 5 or so yards. The R&A have not restrictions on COR of clubs. This will be reviewd in 2007!
So, unless you play in the States, go for the +Plus version - longer drives!
The club fills you with confidence at address as it is very large (380cc, the previous GBB was just 250cc!). It is also very, very forgiving and very, very long.
I put at least 12-15 yards on my tee shots with this club.
Plus, with the matching headcover, it looks the part in the bag and certainly sounds the business when you hit it.
This is a classic club that will provide you with the best driver for years to come.
I paid £299 for mine from Nevada Bob's Golf - they price-matched American Golf Discount. You can get it as low as £285 if you really shop around (e.g. Greg Nicholson Golf, Manchester). Alternatively, you can try the US ebay site as you can pick them up for around $320, just £200.
Expensive for one club but hit one and you'll see well worth it!!!
Advantages: Balance and diastance Disadvantages: Intial price.
...I had already owned a Callaway Driver I knew of the quality and service you get from Callaway but I wanted to try other brands because the technology had come along way and price was also a factor.
After hitting each club on the driving range and using a computer to see how the drives went it became clear that the GBB was going straighter and longer than the other 2. I was impressed by the distance I was getting. The club felt comfortable behind ... ...balanced and smooth.
There were 2 options when purchasing the Great Big Bertha. One option is the standard Great Big Bertha or the other option is the Great Big Bertha Plus+. The plus version does not conform to USGA rules but unless you are living in the US or playing in serious competitions I don't think it is a problem.
I decided to purchase the standard Great Big Bertha and not the Plus+. The main reason is I would of had to wait for the Plus+ ...

Advantages: Cured my slice, long and straight Disadvantages: none
I had a Big Bertha until few months ago, i was 28 handicap when i purchased mine. I felt very comfortable and confident when i hit mine, previously i had another brand of driver and had a slice which went left (i'm a left hander). So i tried a Big Bertha 2, my slice soon went, and i found i had much more distance and my confidence grew, last year i cut 6 strokes from my handicap, and i do believe the Great Big Bertha helped me. There are lots of ...
