Advantages Advantages Weight, Construction, Water Capacity

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Storage Space, Cost

Mules aren't normally renowned for their water-carrying abilities. That's something that Camels are far more famous for, which is probably where Camelbak got their name from. You see Camelbak specialise in the creation of "Hydration Systems". Simply stated, a hydration system is a rucksack with a water bladder and drinking hose built in. But Camelbak have managed to make it so much more and the M.U.L.E. is just one of an ever-expanding range of "systems" (currently numbering close to 50!), each of which tends to be tailored to the specific needs of a fitness niche. In the case of the M.U.L.E ... more

Advantages Advantages easy water, saves time, looks good, hardly a burden

Disadvantages Disadvantages not enough space to hold anything bigger than a chocolate bar or two!

I was looking for someting to stop the disruptance of leaning down and reaching for a water bottle, when hurtling down a slippery hill, or finding the nearest cafe on the mountain to quench my thirst. i spotted a small blue tube making it way over a fellow boarders shoulder and went to investigate! it was a camelbak. The Lobo has a large blue resevoir in the heart of it, this has the capacity to hold 2.1L(70 oz), and a little blue tube running to somewhere near the mouth. however i found that in teh freezing conditions of a glacier or very cold snowy day, the tube has a tendency to freeze ... more

As a fan of Camelbak and its range of products I currently have three different bags, the Classic, MULE and HAWG. I've used most of them for years and have never been disappointed by their performance... The MULE is my favourite and the one which I use most frequently as it is ideal for all sorts of riding and activities because whilst it holds plenty of water (3l) it also holds a reasonable amount of kit to ride for a day in reasonable conditions. Not only is it great for carrying water and kit it also manages to look fantastic and be very very comfortable. The new 'L' shaped mouth piece ... more

Advantages Advantages good capacity, no plastic flavour, rugged

Disadvantages Disadvantages rather expensive, difficult to fill

I bought my camelbak after completing a cycling trip, where i watched my friend drink endlessly all day long, whilst i emptied my bottle by mid-morning then went thirsty for the rest of the day. There is no doubt that i now drink far more than before, firstly because the camelbak has the capacity for me to do so and secondly because drinking is no longer a military operation in itself, it is easy to reach round and put that tube in my mouth. Befor my purchase i thought that the camebak would give a funny plastic taste to my water, but after using i was pleasantly suprized and in fact there is ... more

Advantages Advantages size of reservoir, pack size. comfort

Disadvantages Disadvantages makes you need to pee lots!

I got a camelbak M.U.L.E. from hubby for going hillwalking locally (we live in aberdeenshire so fantastic hills round us) and needed something a little larger than just a hydration pack as I tend to take 2 dogs and all the bits and bobs they need (poop bags, dog treats, leads etc) as well as some waterproofs for me! I suffer from asthma and find that regualr sipping on cool water helps avoid attacks, and means I use less of my inhalers, and can walk for further. The straps are comfy, the pack is well made, and fits nicely. Hubby finds it comfy too, so its not just built for us ladies! I find ... more
