Easy and quick haute cuisine!
Review of Trangia stoves by Louise_Bailey

Advantages: compact design
Disadvantages: non

Whilst on a short trip to Ben Nevis 2 years ago, I brought one and haven't looked back since! it was the best snow conditions for 25 years, and not once did it not light, or blow out or let me down in any way! They do come in various sizes and options, but i just had the one designed for 1 person and it was all i ever needed! you really can take it out the box and use it straight away! no instructons needed, just a little practise to put it all ...
...cooked lamb cutlets with boiled potatoes, green beans and gravy all on this little pan, the odd steak too! not to mention the wonderful Scottish breakfast, with all the trimmings! The only thing they could improve on would be to design a suitable one for toasting bread! Otherwise, a culinary delight! I made every one I saw jealous as they were all struggling with big petrol burners, whereas mine all fitted in its little orange bag! In all, a triumphant ... Read review

Diamond review   When the going is tough, the Peak keeps going
Review of Coleman Peak 1 Petrol Camping Stove by sit2020

Advantages: Great in extreme weather
Disadvantages: Can be fiddly

...is a review about the Coleman Peak One Stove. Why use this instead of other cooking stoves? Well it boils water faster than any other stove I have ever used, see more about that further in the review. When it comes to low temperatures (cold weather and late at night) it still performs well, other stoves can become slower and therefore cook slower. When it comes to high altitudes (high up hills or even mountains) it still out performs any other ...
...stove and then place the Coleman Peak One Stove on a flat surface. Undo the filler cap and fill with fuel (more on fuel variations later in this review), it makes life so much easier to either use a small funnel or special filler caps that are available for fuel containers. It is important to not overfill the stove as the fuel also needs to mix with air. Turn the pump anti clockwise and then give it 25 pumps (making sure the fuel lever is still ... Read review

Camping Party Grill, Ramsey move over
Review of Campingaz Party Grill by skrg28

Advantages: Price, quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: may be a little small for extended use.

...mother bought one of the Campingaz Part Grills from Germany on her visit earlier this year. She spent 5 minutes on the phone trying to tell us what it was and I still didn't understand what she was on about. I was a little apprehensive as I already have a lot of camping gear including a hob type gas cooker so I wasn't sure how much use it would be for me. At the time I know she paid 35 EUROS for it but I have seen them over here in Millets outlets ...
...gas can. There is another model available but its between 60 and 70 quid so it gets a little to expensive without many benefits. THE HOB AND ASSEMBLY The instructions were fairly good, providing enough instruction to get you going but not enough to explain everything. I was a little disappointed with these and thought that some more effort could have been put in to make them more idiot proof. When I received the hob I was quite surprised at how ... Read review

Gotta picka potti or two?
Review of Porta Pottie by GrimTweaker

Advantages: Doubles up as an excellent temporary toilet
Disadvantages: Can be a bit heavy when it's full! And beware of "splash back!"

The Thetford Porta Potti 465 - to give it its full name - has been a godsend! Now, I'll 'fess up straight away. I am not a caravaner, and the last time I went camping was in the 1970s when I was a kid. So why have I spent over a hundred quid on one of these? We've been having an extension built, and have lost the use of the bathroom and toilet. So, I installed a porta potti on the upstairs landing for Mrs Tweaker - who's heavily pregnant - while ...
...are the advantages of a Porta Potti? It's small, so you can tuck it away in a corner. It's fairly easy to keep clean, and easy to use. Think of it as two containers: the bottom one takes the waste, and the top one - which you sit on - takes the water for flushing. My Porta Potti has a little electric motor which pumps liquid into the bowl when you press a button, but cheaper, more basic versions are available. When you've done the business, you ... The best for storing camping fuels
Review of Optimus Fuel bottles by sit2020

Advantages: Robust and light
Disadvantages: Availability and the screw lid can become stiff

...container, this is where the Optimus Fuel bottles come into their own. What are they like? Optimus make these to work with their own range of cookers, however they really are the best on the market for storing fuels for all types of liquid burning stoves. They come in three sizes 0.4 litre, 0.6 litre and one litre. The man body is in one solid piece of aluminium, once you feel one you will realise just how strong they are, because they are made ...
...only weighs 159gms and that is including the cap. The cap itself is made of solid plastic and comes complete with a rubber washer to make sure of an airtight seal. The top of the cap has a ring that is big enough to get a finger through, this makes it ideal to use if you wanted to strap the bottle to the outside of a rucksack (I have done this on more than one occasion, without any problem). The overall dimensions of the one litre bottle are Height ... Read review
