However it comes at a price. I pay 70.00 per month to be a member, 6.00 of that is to pay for my son to be a member so he can use the Creche, which I then have to pay extra for, as well as go into the pool. At 14 months old, I did not expect tobe paying a Gym ... ...does this!!
But enough of the negatives for now, what about the pluses? The staff are friendly, the place is clean and they have all the facilities you need, gym aream large simming pool, 2 studios and lots of classes at different times in the day covering different activities.

My son loves the creche and actually cries when it is time to leave, and the girls in there make ou feel as if you are leaving your child in a safe and secure environment, and at 2.50 an hour the price is not too high.
The place is old though and is in need of a refurb, a lick of paint just won't do it! The locker rooms need a spruce up and the AC in the studios works intermittently, which is no good for hot sweaty classes. The bar / retaurant needs a re-design and the Gym area just never feels inviting.
don't get me wrong I like going here as the instructors and staff are great and the classes offer all that I want, my son loves the creche, I just think it needs attention and the fact that I pay membership for my son needs to be seriously looked at!
The other issue I have with the club is that they will only allow you to book the creche a week in advance if you are a full peak member and not an off peak member. That means mums who can only come in the day and not evenings still have to pay top price to be sure of getting their child in so they can work out! Another fiddle I fear!
All in all I would recommend Cannons if you want good classes and a friendly environment. You never feel too fat or too unfit and that someone is judging. It is a laid back gym, just needs an image overhall.

I read the previous review and think it needs an update! I joined Cannons West Byfleet in November 2007 - the refurb is complete as far as I am aware. The lockers are fine, showers no less reliable than other clubs, the air con works OK and the bar/cafe area is much more pleasant than it used to be! Classes are busy but there are fewer of them than at some clubs (I moved from David Lloyd Brooklands where there was far more choice) but the ones I ... ...The prices have come down since the previous review - we pay around £106 all up for a family for the month - which breaks down to something like £48 per adult and £5 each per child for peak membership (less than half what David Lloyd were charging us!)
The gym is not the best around - with low ceilings and a fairly restricted area I don't love it, but the weights and CV machines are all there including a new Power Plate and you can get the job done!

Terrible Customer Service. If you take out a membership with Cannons, don't expect to be able to cancel it if you are either out of work or pregnant. And make sure when the time comes to cancelling, that you send a letter more than 30 days before the membership ends, as so many people have been told their letter arrived too late and they have to pay another months membership. Great scam. Also, the Chief Exec is far too busy to deal with complaints from Customers, as quoting from his office "talking to a Customer about something they are not happy about is not important enough in the grand scheme of things". ...
