Canterbury History

Advantages: Interesting attraction, unique, cheap entrance
Disadvantages: Audio packs can leave you with arm ache !

I only live a fifteen minute drive from Canterbury but I have only visited the Canterbury Tales once and that was about five years ago. About The Canterbury Tales For those of you that have never heard of The Canterbury Tales, they are a collection of stories that were written in the 14th century by Geoffrey Chaucer. Inside this attraction, the collection of tales are told by the pilgrims who are on a pilgrimage from London to Canterbury to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Beckett which is in Canterbury Cathedral. Chaucer wrote the tales in Middle English with two of them in prose and the rest in verse and in The Canterbury Tales attraction they are still spoken in this way. Location The Canterbury Tales is located in the middle of the City of Canterbury and about a five minute walk from Canterbury Cathedral. The train station ...

Daft bat for my dozy duck!

Advantages: A really funny childrens book, with fantastic illustrations.
Disadvantages: Not a starter reader.

After recently visiting the library, my son seemed to have picked some real crackers this time! The premise of this book is - Everything is ok until bat arrives to stay, wise owl decides to give her a welcome gift, so sends all the younger animals to find out what sort of things she likes. After having a very confusing conversation with her, the younger animals are convinced that bat is completely mental, stating that she said ?I?d like an umbrella to keep my feet warm?, but they brought her the umbrella, of which bat thanked them because ?there was a big black rain cloud in the sky below ...

Canterbury Cathedral

Advantages: Historical benefits, good attraction for all the family to learn about
Disadvantages: Mnay steps to climb.Apart form that none

Well as my Dover castle review seemed to go down rather well with ratings received, and this is a rather local attraction to me, I thought I would do a review won Canterbury cathedral. I can view this beautifully from my office window on my construction site, which I think is a privilege really. History of the Cathedral Well I should think most people know something about the cathedral and its history but I will merely scratch the surface of it in this review im sure? The Cathedral was founded in 597AD by St Augustine who landed on the south east corner of England as a missionary from Rome. St Augustine was given a site in Canterbury to set up his church and this was St Martins, which still stands today. This was given to him by the then King of England Ethelbert. This Church was used throughout the Roman occupation and in ...
