Released for the 07/08 this Carlisle United home kit features a slightly different design to previous kits. Carlisle United, a club associated with Blue as their colours have had a plain blue top (not including sleeves or trim here) for around the last 5, 6 years, but this new kit, made by Le cog Sportif took a slightly different approach. This kit features three colours, With a blue area on the left, with white next to that and with the red trim (its an extended trim) on the right hand side. These sections are cut diagonally and run all the way down into the shorts aswell. The sleeves are blue. The kit therefore is not Symettrical colour wise like most kits, but personally I think it looks great. This is the second season currently that is being worn, and I think it will go on for a further year as the United home kit before being replaced (Im not fully sure on that). The sock have remained the same colour to the previous kit (which is pictured above) and that colour is of course blue.
Now onto the feel of the kit - the kit is made from a nice material which is nice to the touch and it hugs your skin nicely - it is very light and is therefore ideal for playing sports in, but it is also perfectly fine to be worn in any other situation. On a hot day the material can start sticking a bit, and it can make you sweat, to counter this problem you can however simply wear an undergarment, like a Nike pro vest for example. I have had the kit for over a year now and I have worn it on multiple occasions during that time, but the kit is still in mint condition and I cant think of one mark on it whatsoever.
Overall it is a very nice design and is a welcome and lively change to the tradtional Carlisle United kit. It is very durable and is made from a good quality material, the Stobart sponsering is also actually very nicely done and is slightly padded to make it stand out that little bit more. The United crest is stitched in very well and looks excellent on the white backround. It is perfect for just wearing in your normal day scenario and is also perfect for playing sports in - It has proven very popular with the Carlisle United faithful and hopefully this review tells you why!
The only real downside I can think of would be the price - I paid £35.00 which personally I felt was very reasonable considering the prices of football tops today, but I could see why others (maybe non United fans) would think its a bit expensive.
