Advantages: adjustability of the roko buckles and the machine wash Disadvantages: Blinkers are a bit square and stiff
I have this harness for my Shetland pony and find it excellent it really molds to her body shape and i think she finds it comfortable and a good fit, she goes very well in it. The roko fully adjustable buckles mean you can get the fit just right.
The only down side i would say is the bridle as the blinkers are a bit stiff and you cannot mould them to fit around the eye. I use a traditional bridle with this harness but the plas equestrian bridle would be ok to start off with with pre driving training.
The machine wash is what drew me to this, you can literally just chuck it in the wash and bung it on the line to dry, brilliant time saver - it washes well.
All round good reasonably priced harness for training and pleasure driving. ...
Advantages: Covers everything for ages 4-94, lead rein to three day event Disadvantages: I just wish it was closer to home (but it's still worth the travel!)
Trent Valley Equestrian Centre is a fantastic riding school and livery/competition yard - very friendly, very professional, very welcoming. Our daughter would live there if she could even though she doesn't have her own pony! From lead rein to three day event, from age 4 to 94 this is the place to learn to ride, to improve your riding and compete at every level. TVEC view riding as a complete activity including horse care and stable management - badges, tests and assessments at every level - individual badges, Pony Club, ABRS, BHS, NVQ - you name it, they do it. Every month it seems there is a new development - something small like a new stable door or something big like the new 1800 sq m International Level Indoor Arena to complement the four floodlit ourdoor arenas. If you don't believe me, try it for yourself at one of their regular ...
Advantages: Beautiful, sensitive, inteligent creatures. Disadvantages: Not for the novice horse owner!
they are not suited to life as a racehorse. When leaving racing most ex-racers have plenty of life left in them and many adapt well to new lives. Ex-racehorses are used to human contact, and familiar with travelling and are usually exceptional in traffic. Wtih proper re-training these horses can go on to have successful carrers in other equestrian disaplines such as eventing, polo, hunting and dressage.
Ex-racehorses can be picked up at sales much more cheeply than a 'ready made' horse. This is where the trouble can begin, inexperienced owners think they are getting a bargain but in reality they are probably getting more than they bargained for!
Racehorses are not broken and schooled in the same way as riding horses. For example when a jockey mounts a racehorse it is done on the move by a leg up. My horse is 13 years old and left racing ...
Castledyke is a working farm of some 1500 acres owned by the Richardson family. The setting is quite unique for a south Lincolnshire site due to the fact it offers parkland and hedges for grazing and an abundance of in-house tracks for hacking. The traditional farm buildings and stables are offset with superb modern amenities to cover every need for the horse enthusiast.
