These aren't the sort of lights that light up the whole road in front of you. I would suggest you only use these are roads with street lights. I have ridden late ... ...idea, they don't light anything up. But then you aren't paying for something that lights up the whole road. These are for main road use, and for this - they work fine. These aren't the sort of lights that light up the whole road in front of you. I would suggest you only use these are roads with street lights. I have ridden late at night on back road, it is not a good idea, they don't light anything up. But then you aren't paying for something that lights up the whole road. These are for main road use, and for this - they work fine. Very bright and you will be very visable despite the size.
There are 3 different settings on the rear light and 2 on the front. These are solid light and flashing light and the rear light also does a christmas style fairly light sort of flashing - not sure where you'd use that...
The rear light also comes with an extra clip to use on your back pack - I haven't used it but i can see the use for it and i know people do use them.
Of course i have dropped these a few times... who wouldnt? They have survived just fine with barely a scrape - very robust.
So, all sounding rather good so far. Good bright light for main road use, good size, good battery life actually - fairly regular use lasted me 5 or 6 months and that's only the front one! So why only 3 stars?
There is one big problem for me, which is first discovered on buying a new bike. The idea of the straps you attach round the bike is that instead of the usual screw which takes a while to undo and requires a screwdriver, you get a simple knob to twist and it comes off. Simple, nice idea - easy to swap between bikes... errrr.. no
This is a huge product fault, these straps become trapped and jammed all the time and makes it nearly impossible to remove, After 3 hours of pulling and tugging and resorting to work tools still no progress, finally it was pulled off and finally became damaged. Occasionally it works, but really this isn't the one to get if you want to swtich the light between bikes, or indeed move it at all. In all seriousness - the easiest way to remove it is pull everything off the handlebars and slide it off!
Right now i don't really have an alternative, but it is a really frustrating problem and and it is such a shame becuase this is otherwise a great product. It's really hard to know whether to recommend - i would have to say yes, but please bare in mind that if you put it on your bike it is worth doing it as a permenant feature... Of course this may be a problem with just mine, but somehow i imagine this is a regular occurance, i'd be interested to hear what other people think
