The new sponsorship from Adidas is something that appeals to me, I don't know what it is about the three stripes, but I am rather fond of them, however, the fact that Adidas have also recently taken over several national team kits and other Premiership clubs including Liverpool, did make me rather wary, as several of the designs seem to be to be over similar, just in different colours!

Made in "Climacool" material that claims something like it takes the sweat away from the skin, keeps you warm in the cold and cool in the warm, you'd think this was something from a sci-fi film, but, when on, it actually feels as if it does the job.

The price and continually changing nature of Premiership football shirts are the kinds of things that continually irritate fans - after all, who really wants to shell out £40 plus to "prove" their status with the club?!
Well...I do. It might be stupid, but I do like to be in the kit and I have the collector mentality of wanting to keep up with these things - I've the Chelsea home shirts for the past eight seasons in my collection of far too many shirts, and I can't resist the new one, and I like for it to be official and not chance the ebay knockoff!
So, I ordered my home shirt, fully kitted out with name printing and Premiership badges (because, yeah, three times in fifty years, one likes to commemorate, even at five quid a go for the badges!) from the Chelsea website at the beginning of the season, and I have to say, when it arrived, I was thrilled.

Fortunately, I love new our home shirt. It doesn't have the somewhat bizarre raised collar of the Liverpool shirt, opting for a neat, emblazoned one instead that's actually very comfortable. Made in "Climacool" material that claims something like it takes the sweat away from the skin, keeps you warm in the cold and cool in the warm, you'd think this was something from a sci-fi film, but, when on, it actually feels as if it does the job.
It's lightweight and well-fitted - although a girl measuring approx. size 12-14 I opted for the Small men's size, because, well, the women's shirt? It looks, frankly, terrible, in my humble opinion, with an incredibly unflattering scoop neckline and tight, overly fitted shape. This is a shame as far as I'm concerned because I bought the womens' away shirt last season and found it an excellent and flattering fit, and this season's just doesn't live up to that.
However, the one I bought is slim-fitting, and seems to cling in all the right places, despite being the standard design, with aerated panels at the sides and so on, and it's really very comfortable.
And yet, it does feel strange, because, simply, it has no shoulder seams! It goes from arm to neck without a break in a very clever way, but I'd never imagined how odd that might feel until I first donned this shirt... I'm sure I'll get used to it but there is something ever so bizarre!
The shade of blue is also a little different from last season - slightly more cornflower than royal, I don't like it quite so much, and the white detail is never going to be as regal as the gold, but last season's was of course our centenary shirt so it seems fitting that this one is different from one that's meant to have been 'special'.
Fifty quid for a shirt - you want it to be well made, and this really is. The seams are tight, the stripes are woven in fabric, the details are perfectly integrated, the badge firmly stitched and the sponsor logo, whilst perpetually annoying, is expertly heat sealed.
I've already worn and washed this to three games this season and it still looks as excellent as when it was fresh out of the packet, and whilst I still find the price extortionate in some ways, compared to some of our more threadish shirts from the past that were prone to tagging and coming apart, I feel confident that this won't suffer in the same way. The colours are vibrant, the contrast of the details is good but not overpowering, and I particularly like the little Chelsea lion subtley set in at the back that's an extra added touch of good design.
It's priced at £34.99 on the official site, undecorated, which isn't too bad a price considering, £39.99 for the long sleeved version, but is available on the high street for around £30 in the early season sales.
It certainly seems to live up to the claims of the material and as a replica shirt feels as high quality as those that are player issue, so, if one is so inclined as to buy to feel a part of something, and to acquire the kit that you'd hope we'd get a fair bit of silverware in, you could do a lot worse than to buy something as comfortable, stylish, and undeniably Chelsea as this!
Advantages: Well made, good looks, centenary embroidery. Disadvantages: Not for fans of something different.
...and pulls, unlike many Nike, Adidas and Reebok shirts.
Care of the shirt is quite straightforward. From my experience, simply wash at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle with your normal washing powder. I don't bother with conditioner unless it's a 2-in-1 detergent. DO NOT tumble dry your football shirts, instead hang them on a rack in a warm room or line dry them. Tumble drying of football shirt material usually results in shrinkage and a lot of printed ... ...set at low heat. I usually wash a dozen or so of my football shirts together, all different makes, colours and materials and have never had a problem when following these guidelines.
If it's still got the original swing tags, those tags should consist of a black X-static tag describing the material and a blue Chelsea tag with the club badge, year of the shirt printed on. The opposite side of that tag should have the white Umbro label with the product ...

Advantages: You'll get to wear the kit of this years league champions Disadvantages: thousands of none Chelsea fans will have them
Since the arrival of Roman Abromovich and more precisely his billions and billions of roubles Chelsea have become the high fashion team of the Premier League, maybe even the whole of Europe. And now that Jose Morhino , affectionately known as Jesus around the Stamford Bridge area, has become manager success is coming easy for Chelsea.
Now chelsea also have a rich looking kit to go with their rich looking squad. Millions of pound have gone into assembling ... ...as much has been put into making one of the nicest kits you're likely to see this season, in the premier league anyway.
In mainly dark blue the kit sticks to the old chelsea colours but encorporates the very apt colour gold. The gold on the shirt is used very sparingly, unlike Abramovich's own gold, with touches down the sleeves, around the team badge and the kit make logo. Being able to have umbro, one of the biggest names in sportswear, and Samsung, ...

Advantages: Smart, nice design Disadvantages: Bit tight
When I first saw the new Chelsea shirt, I didn't like it at all. As a Chelsea fan, you would have thought I would like it. I really didn't like it. I didn't like the neck, the yellow/gold design on the shoulders and the new sponsor Samsung Mobile looked weird on the shirt. I usually go out and buy the new Chelsea shirts straight away, but I was very reluctant to do so. I waited until Christmas, by which time I had grown to like it. The more I saw ... ...I liked the yellow/gold design on the shoulders eventually, but the sponsor Samsung Mobile still didn't look right. I got the shirt for Christmas, and I was really pleased. I put it on straight away, but I found it really tight round the neck and waist. I like my shirts and tops to be fitted a bit, but this was too tight for my liking. Since then, I have grown into it a bit more and it's not as tight as it was. ...
