Merrell Siren Shoe

Advantages: Excelent support and ventilation
Disadvantages: Non that I have been able to identify as yet

...winter as well as the Merrell Siren shoe as a possible approach shoe. I hadn’t. Staff then moved onto showing which jackets had which benefits and which of these benefits I would need, and asked me if I would need anything extra to what they had shown me. As I hadn’t thought of anything like this, the staff I must say had the patience of saints to put up with my errrr’s and arrrrrr’s!! I had never had base layers before, only the old fashioned thermals! ...
...Icebreaker and how they would keep me warm and help to keep me comfortable when walking. Overall, I was very impressed with the staff LD Mountain Centre, as well as the variety of products and brands they stocked both in store and online at www.ldmountaincentre.com Out of all the shops I visited I found that the staff were interested only in ensuring I got the right products for what I was doing. Although I initially only went in to buy a pair of ...

brilliant for high range beginners to intermediate

Advantages: great comfort abd price
Disadvantages: bad heel

hey guys!me again :) these shoes are crackin! ive had a pair for a few years, fully worn to the bone by now, but the most comfy shoes ive ever owned. great for long days on the rock, especially in warmer weather when your feet swell. i bought myself a pair of mad rocks before going to font last year, brought a pair or anasazi pinks too....ended up wearing the spirits for the whole trip! DESIGN lace shoes so easy to distribute pressure if you have ...
...painful but precise enough for mid grade work, or high grade if you have the arms to hold yourself up! only problem is a naff heel on them. very flimsy and thin, so painful to heelhook and very picky in what shape of heel it will fit. You tend to find this is a common problem with rock shoes, the toe is perfect but the heel is very picky. as these shoes are a slightly older model, this problem has been almost fully rectified in more recent versions, ...

Hang on!

Advantages: Comfortable, durable, all round
Disadvantages: A beginners shoe

...I ever bought were the Red Chili Spirits and they served me well. The shoes are a comfortable pair which is ideal if you are climbing for an entire day. They fit well and have a low profile heel and toe for descents and cracks. The rubber used on the sole is incredibly sticky and provides great grip even when smearing on the most unlikely of polished surfaces. They are a great all-round rock shoe and are perfect for all disciplines; bouldering, ...
...specialized. I'm currently wearing Red Chili corona VCR's and I think they are absolutely brilliant. Especially good for bouldering and sports routes as they tend to get a little uncomfortable. Overall a great all round shoe and definately worth the money! A good website for climbing gear is rockrun.com. Hope to see you down the crag sometime... ...

Less lace more Velcro!

Advantages: Very Comfortable, great allrounder, velcro closure system
Disadvantages: Not the most technical shoe, the dye runs.

...my review of the standard Red Chili Spirits (http://sports.ciao.co.uk/RedChiliSpiritReview5643275) as I bought these after my lace up Spirits wore out. I found the Lace up shoes to be very comfortable while still offering ample ability, but fancied the quick on/off advantage of the Velcro Spirit. Here's what the manufacturer has to say about the shoe: - ImpactZone EVA heel shock absorber - Velcro triplex tension control - Easy on and off - ...
...- Graduated midsoles - Red - UK sizes 2-12 "Built for bouldering and sport, both inside and outside, but with enough power for towers, the Spirit Velcro ImpactZone targets a wide range of fun. For quick on and offs, technical ups and jump-offs, the convenience of Velcro makes this shoe a must have. Enhanced Velcro Performance." and on the Impact Zone shock absorb system: "Red Chili's ImpactZone is an internal shock absorber to soften jump-offs ...

The Classic Slipper

Advantages: Very agressive and down-turned
Disadvantages: Sometimes has deadspace in the heel for some people

This is Five Ten's most agressive and technical slipper and is very popular among both sport climbers and boulderers. What has made this slipper so popular for steep wall climbing is its combination of a down-turned toe an d very soft midsole; making it sensitive and versatile. Many people are surprised to hear various hard gritstone slabs have been climbed in V10s, considering them designed for steep terrain only. However unlike most other slippers, ...
...Support, however, is maintained due to its tight closure and very strong slingshot- especially considering the total lack of a midsole! In all, its hard to find a boulderer that doesn't rate this classic slipper. Anyone looking for sensitivity and power- this is the shoe. However dont buy them if your thinking of climbing anything longer than a single pitch- comfort is not their strong point (no lining & a black toe box= hot in the sun!) Unfortunately ...
