A classic beginners shoe
Review of Red Chili Spirit by dougs1232

Advantages: Comfortable, all rounder.
Disadvantages: Jack of all trades, master of none. the dye has a tendancy to run.

...them again) and bought the Red Chili Spirit Impact Zone shoe, which is basically the same save for Velcro closure and extra padding under the heel. Before I go any further here's the blurb from the manufacturers website: - Triple graduated mid-sole gives unbeatable flex and feel across all sizes - Small sizes especially tuned for women and juniors - Centre asymmetric last supports the foot - New low profile heel comfortable for climbing, supportive ...
...longest serving shoe on the Red Chili team this cool all rounder still finds new fans with its hard to match combination of comfort, performance and fit. A classic in anyone’s language and a best seller across the globe." I bought these with little if no previous knowledge of climbing shoes from a local outdoor shop. I had been advised that the best way to pick a climbing shoe was to actually go into a shop and try on a few pairs as the sizing standards ... Read review

Climb like a rock goddess (perhaps)
Review of Scarpa Vision by fuzzyfelt

Advantages: Comfy. Good for narrower feet. Rubber sticky yet lasts well
Disadvantages: Colour transfer from suede to foot

This is a good shoe for climbers with narrow feet and heels. The rubber is fairly sticky and they\'re a good, fairly comfortable shoe for medium grade climbers (I\'d love to say for higher grade climbers, but since I am not one... Still I've seen pics of the rock god/godesses in the mags wearing them, so they must be good for them too!) The back of the heel/ankle is quite severe and can dig into the achilles a bit, but I found giving the rubber ...
...a bit - they become comfy fairly quickly. The rubber is fairly resilient and lasts well on grit and indoors. My only criticism is that, being red suede, the colour seems to leech out quite a lot at first, but if you don't mind looking like you have some foot disease then I guess that's okay too... ... Brought me back into climbing with confidence
Review of Scarpa Vantage by nilouche

Advantages: Comfy, grippy, good fit with laces
Disadvantages: Not much

...I had never heard of Scarpa and took a chance buying them over a more well known (for me at least) brand and I'm confident that I made the right choice. After a year and half of (not weekly but frequent) climbing they aren't falling appart at all. The stitches in the seams are still tight and there's not a hint of fraying or sagging in the uppers. As I said earlier, my next pair of climbing shoes will be Scarpa Vantages. ... Read review

Popular for a reason
Review of Five Ten Anasazi Velcro by DavidDruce

Advantages: very sensative
Disadvantages: slightly stiff sole

...has become the most classic Five Ten model for sport climbing and bouldering. Used on countless of the worlds hardest sends this asymetrical, sensative and powerful shoe performs well on edging, smearing and in pockets. The new heel design has both deepened it and strengthed where the heel meets the lining- improving two of its early weak points. The new onyx rubber offers slightly more friction, although not to a substantial degree. In all, the ... Read review

Hang on!
Review of Red Chili Spirit Impact Zone by hukerjohn

Advantages: Comfortable, durable, all round
Disadvantages: A beginners shoe

...I ever bought were the Red Chili Spirits and they served me well. The shoes are a comfortable pair which is ideal if you are climbing for an entire day. They fit well and have a low profile heel and toe for descents and cracks. The rubber used on the sole is incredibly sticky and provides great grip even when smearing on the most unlikely of polished surfaces. They are a great all-round rock shoe and are perfect for all disciplines; bouldering, ...
...specialized. I'm currently wearing Red Chili corona VCR's and I think they are absolutely brilliant. Especially good for bouldering and sports routes as they tend to get a little uncomfortable. Overall a great all round shoe and definately worth the money! A good website for climbing gear is rockrun.com. Hope to see you down the crag sometime... ... Read review
