Climb like a rock goddess (perhaps)

Advantages: Comfy. Good for narrower feet. Rubber sticky yet lasts well
Disadvantages: Colour transfer from suede to foot

This is a good shoe for climbers with narrow feet and heels. The rubber is fairly sticky and they\'re a good, fairly comfortable shoe for medium grade climbers (I\'d love to say for higher grade climbers, but since I am not one... Still I've seen pics of the rock god/godesses in the mags wearing them, so they must be good for them too!) The back of the heel/ankle is quite severe and can dig into the achilles a bit, but I found giving the rubber ...
...a bit - they become comfy fairly quickly. The rubber is fairly resilient and lasts well on grit and indoors. My only criticism is that, being red suede, the colour seems to leech out quite a lot at first, but if you don't mind looking like you have some foot disease then I guess that's okay too... ...

Brought me back into climbing with confidence

Advantages: Comfy, grippy, good fit with laces
Disadvantages: Not much

...I had never heard of Scarpa and took a chance buying them over a more well known (for me at least) brand and I'm confident that I made the right choice. After a year and half of (not weekly but frequent) climbing they aren't falling appart at all. The stitches in the seams are still tight and there's not a hint of fraying or sagging in the uppers. As I said earlier, my next pair of climbing shoes will be Scarpa Vantages. ...

Beginner's choice

Advantages: Comfortable and durable
Disadvantages: unsensative, loose fitting, shallow heal

This sturdy velcro shoe has become very popular as a first shoe and rental model. Its quick, secure closure and thick sole and rand make for a durable, comfortable, and allround boot. The Veloce is a very convenient gym or crag shoe with its two opposed velcro closures and double pull tabs making it very fast to put on. However its strongest point is its durability; the uppers are suede and the rand is super thick. Countless gyms have a fleet of ...

Merrell Siren Shoe

Advantages: Excelent support and ventilation
Disadvantages: Non that I have been able to identify as yet

...winter as well as the Merrell Siren shoe as a possible approach shoe. I hadn’t. Staff then moved onto showing which jackets had which benefits and which of these benefits I would need, and asked me if I would need anything extra to what they had shown me. As I hadn’t thought of anything like this, the staff I must say had the patience of saints to put up with my errrr’s and arrrrrr’s!! I had never had base layers before, only the old fashioned thermals! ...
...Icebreaker and how they would keep me warm and help to keep me comfortable when walking. Overall, I was very impressed with the staff LD Mountain Centre, as well as the variety of products and brands they stocked both in store and online at www.ldmountaincentre.com Out of all the shops I visited I found that the staff were interested only in ensuring I got the right products for what I was doing. Although I initially only went in to buy a pair of ...

Walking on air!

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

...opted for a pair of Merrell walking shoes. Fast forward almost a decade and I can honestly say these were the best pair of shoes I have ever bought. Sadly after walking many miles my shoes had started to show their age! A few months ago I decided it was time to buy a new pair. Having had such a positive experience with Merrell I knew I wanted to stick with the brand. A trip to my local Milletts revealed a few styles in the Merrell range. I have fairly ...
...anything to heavy either .The Merrell Siren ventilator caught my eye and I was soon on my way home with a pair. Merrell market this shoe as a lightweight summer hiking shoe. The shoes are made of suede with a breathable mesh lining. They have the Merrell vibram sole so give excellent grip. The shoes are air cushioned in the middle for extra comfort. The heel is moulded for support. There are two colours to choose from either beige suede called desert ...
