I have used a range of different camping stoves over the years, having been involved in outdoor activities with young people I have had an ongoing debate around the safety/efficiency issues.
I have personally used a coleman stove for 15 yrs - the special delight is when you are camping with Trangia fans. I like to set-up the stove and kettle, in the time it takes to boil I can get my tent pitched and then go round with mugs of tea whilst my friends kettles are just getting up to a simmer - smug doesn't even enter into it.
So why else am I convinced? You can control the stove from a gentle simmer to a full rolling boil, the fuel - unleaded petrol - is widely available, a tank full is plenty to cook a meal for two, with extra brews as well. The stove has a fairly wide base an is stable in most conditions, it is easy to light and soon gets up to full working temperature.
The filler funnel is fitted with a grot/moisture filter to ensure trouble free operation.Unlike gas stoves it maintains its temperature until out of fuel, rather than the slow loss of power you get with gas canisters, and no empty disposal problem. Compared to other ultra light weight multi fuel stoves it is simple, it comes in one peice, cheap to run and awsomely efficient - the main componants are made of brass and steel, rather than the use of plastics - which when they fail leave you without a working stove - worth the exrta wieght!

Good review, and the stove does perform well but when the generator clogs on your Coleman, I'll still be boiling away on my trangia 25, 27 or ex Swedish Army, or 85 year old Prims 210, 70 year old Primus 71 or Svea 123; I don't think there will be many Coleman around in 80 years due to their build quality (Visit www.spiritburner.com) Rik Classic Stove Collector

Good op. Sounds like a useful purchase. Phil :)

good op, but if you set it out in paragraphs it makes for easier reading, some info about the price would also have made for a vh. rating. Vera.
