The Coleman Savannah is a 6 person frame tent. It has an iside height of200cm high which is ample height for the average family! The tent is a kind of octagonal shape with the bedroom area taking 1 half & living area the other. We found the tent very easy to erect with colour coded steel poles which feed through from the outside of the tent, then legs attatched to lift the flysheet & place the tent in positon ready to be pegged down.
...seperately!
Coleman claim that their tents are rigourously tested to withstand rain & wind & we can certainly vouch that this model has passed. Our last trip was in gale force winds & torrential rain all night yet the tent remined totall waterproof & despite the terrifying flapping of the tent fabric we stayed firmly pegged down!

There is then a groundsheet for the living area. The inner bedroom tents have an integral groundsheet & the whole thing is hung inside with colour coded hooks. What we particularly like as well is that there is a separate 'storage' area like a zipped up compartment where the cool box & bags ect can be stored. The bedroom has a removeable divider across the width which is a good idea if like us, you have toddlers as it means we can remove it & all be together & when they are older & want privacy it can be replaced. There are also many pockets situated inside to store odds & ends & loops on the celing to hang items.
There are 3 large doors in the living area, all with mesh lining to keep those insects at bay on warm summer evenings! The 2 large 'windows' also consist of unzipping the flysheet to reveal mesh which means that if we are camping in breezy weather we wouldnt really want to unzip the flysheet as becomes very draughty & we feel that they would have been better off with clear PVC. There are 2 additional small triangular PVC windows which are above veiwing height so let in light but no good if you like to sit & watch the world go by!
The whole outfit comes in 3 seperate bags. One for poles, one for flysheet & the other for the groundsheet & inner tent. The bags do strap together to be carried as 1 but with a total weght of 40KG I would advise carrying them seperately!

All in all we we are very pleased with this tent, the roomyness, ease of erection & stability & is ideal for a family. The only downside as mentioned before is the lack of PVC windows, however the good points outweigh this.
The retail price seems to vary a lot between £300-£400 & is available in several large camping stores or can be bought on line.
Flysheet : 3000mm Hydrostatic Head Fire Retardant Taped Seams PVC Windows Double layer mesh/Polyester doors
Inner Tent: Breathable Nylon mesh and Polycotton walls Fire Retardant Storage Pockets Colour Coded Suspension Points
Advantages: easy to put up Disadvantages: not durable enough
a very good tent, easy to put up, can be done in around 20 mins. can stand up in it so it helps when getting changed. holds six so ideal for a family. but there is one problem - do not use it in strong winds!
we went camping, as a family. me, my brother, my mam and dad, my nan and taid. (yes my nan and taid!) so we set up the tent blah blah and to sleep.
3 in the mornin me and my bro were woken up to the tent fallin on us. The pole had buckled ... ...head. We moved to the porch because we couldnt be bothered wake everyone up. When i next woke up my mother was pulling me out from under the tent. The whole tent had collapsed in the wind and rain!
so there we all went, nain and taid and all, packing up the stuff from under the tent, in the rain and after a good soaking got in the car and went home.
so lets just say not the best camping experience! xx ...
