Colossus
I have recently had to suffer the awful carrydown conditions at the bowling alley that I bowl at twice a week.
This has been the situation at Tolworth (Charrington Bowl) since the introduction of synthetic lanes at this centre last September. For some unknown reason the lane maintainer insists on applying two layers of oil before the league sessions in the evening. This produces a
massive carrydown of oil at the backend. The results is that the ball does not produce the amount of grip it is meant to as the backend is covered in oil.
I bought this ball and tried it out as it comes out of the box, i.e. Polished .
I tried the ball as it comes out of the box for a couple of sessions but there was no grip.
I decided that this was the time for a alternative approach so I had my ball sanded to 600.
I have since bowled another 2 sets on a very oily pair of lanes and had better results.
This ball comes with a huge warning regards sanding the surface as on a nedium to dry lanes
this ball may be difficult to control.

As for the ball itself: This ball is made by an Independent company called MORICH. They also produced
"The Labyrinth" and "The Minotaur". Their website is at
http://www.morich.net/morichpopup.htm
This is not a cheap ball. After shopping around I managed to get this for
185 pounds needless to say it is 185 dollars from the MORICH Website. Why do we have to pay so much for
imports ?
The Colossus is black in colour. It is made of "GriPpeR EF" coverstock which the manufacturer claims
to be easy adjustability so that it is simple to control the amount of hook that you desire.

As yet I have not bowled enough games to give a more detailed acount. Hopefully that will follow
in a few weeks.

i wont pretend to know much about bowling, but this sounds like a good product, i enjoy bowling but never seem to be consistent with my scores, i.e. strike, then none, and so on! nic :)

I bowl twice a week and what a difference there is when the alleys are oiled and when they arent. My ball is so different, but when the alleys are oiled, my hands get filthy.

We have this type of bowling in Canada but not in the USA...LL
