Confidence Carbon Steel Wedges

As standard the clubs come fitted with a supurb True Temper Dynamic Gold steel shaft and the usual Cleveland grip, neither of which I can pick a fault with. The head is made out of CMM (Carbon Metal Matrix, created especially by Cleveland) which is slightly softer than usual steel to give extra feel. Finally, the face and grooves are precision milled grooves for spin control and personally I have found that the spin given by the clubs are very good and consistant too. Next to note is Cleveland's bounce options. For those who are not aware the "bounce" on a wedge is the term that refers to the features making up the sole of the club. A low bounce is a low angle between the sole and the ground and is useful on firm turf to give a clean contact whereas a standard or high bounce is more suited... Read review

Advantages: Great for all ages and handicaps
Disadvantages: don't get a sand iron

...Well, last year a set of Slingshot irons were selling at around £399 for a 3 iron to Pitch wedge. I bought my son a set of these from American Golf. The irons are very well made and have lovely grips. each iron has a little 'bridge' over the cavity and make a 'swoosh' when you swing them, its a great sound, and I can see why they are called Slingshot. previous to the Slingshot irons my son had Macgregor DX and the Nike were a very good buy. My son's handicap came down 4 shots within a month and he does hit these irons straight and long, there is so much confidence in each iron, right down to the 3. I don't have my 3 or 4 iron in my bag but my son who is 16 really does hit them well. The only downfall is that there isn't a sand iron in the set, and it would have made better sense to add a sand and taken away the 3, as most people don... Read review

Advantages: Improves your short game dramatically easing putting!
Disadvantages: It costs its value!

...When it comes to golf normally the more you spend the more you get back and in terms of your short game this is definitely true. When looking for a wedge look for your desired loft, feel i.e. soft hard and make. I know saying might make some people say your just paying for the name. But in terms of golf names are made for outstanding products and the Volkey Wedge is certainly one. When Bob Volkey was asked by Titleist to create a new style of wedges Bob Volkey thought professional control for everyone. The heat-treated oxide treatment is a thin surface on the club, which enables spin for all golfers. Now I for one know that there is nothing better in golfer in hitting a high wedge an watching it draw back as if on a piece of string. And that is what this club provides.
