Confidence 'Pro Trainer' Magnetic Exercise Bike

A decent in-front-of-the-telly magnetic exercise bike

Advantages: Low cost magnetic resistance bike, pretty sturdy for the price
Disadvantages: Seating position not necessarily the most comfortably, not great for shorter people!

My previous exercise bike of many years (mostly used as a clothes horse, but more recently brought into service in a determined attempt to get fitter and thinner) recently broke. Specifically, its resistance strap wore through and the ride became more like freewheeling down a hill than anything more energetic. With this in mind I decided to go for a bike with magnetic resistance. I settled on this one as, not only did it fulfil my criteria of a magnetic resistance system coupled with a relatively cheap price, but it was also foldable, and storage space is an issue in my house. Review of Pro Fitness Foldable Magnetic X Bike

Very good, reasonable exercise bike

Advantages: Cheap and durable
Disadvantages: Pulse detector

I think that this bike is perfect for light users. I bought mine in Jan 09 and have been using it daily ever since. It is incredibly easy to build, anyone could do it!! It has clear concise assembly instructions and all of the tools are included. I love the pulse counter on the handlebars, but it does take some doing to get it right as it doesn't always pick up your pulse. You have to get your palms in exactly the right position for it to work. The bike also has a great range of 'gears', which would suit any level of fitness/workout. The only downside I can think of is the magnets can be a bit 'sticky' when you first use it. Overall it's a pretty good exercise bike and I would recommend it to anyone. ...

The King of Exercise Bikes?

Advantages: Excellent range of functions, comfortable, easy to use
Disadvantages: I think its a touch expensive at £200

endurance/stamina. Because of the low impact nature of the exercise, it is suitable for all ages and sizes. Now the physiological effects of cycling will not be changed by buying a more expensive exercise bike. Physiological change is determined by how hard you are prepaired to work as an individual. All more expensive exercise bikes do is provide you with a smoother, more comfortable ride and maybe more inbuilt programmes to work too.
