Continental City Ride 26 x 1.75 Black Tyre Features: Great choice for year round commuters Even tread pattern ensures secure grip on the road, especially when cornering or turning in traffic Additional grooves draw water away and deliver good grip in the wet whilst reducing braking distances on wet roads Smooth central section gives smooth ride and low rolling resistance Robust gumwall sidewall protects against wear and tear Available in many sizes to suit your needs Constructed from 3 plies, totalling 66 tpi Weight: 525 grams
Advantages: Make an MTB better on road Disadvantages: Can be hard to find. No good off road
...Continental have produced the Grand Prix tyre in mtb size. 26" x1"
It has the same tread pattern as the road tyre and is very light (c.200g)
Foldable too - with a kevlar bead
I rode them on my Specialised mtb over the summer on a commute (8 miles each way) and they are superb for use on the road. It is the closest to a road bike tyre that I have ever seen, is very responsive and feels fast!
If you ride an mtb mostly on the road and can feel the energy sapping from your legs with big knobbly tyres, you could do far worse than get a pair of these!
They seem very durable too and can be inflated to decent pressures too - I ran them at close to 100 psi
They are quite rare in shops and I had to search through a few on line stores to find one that listed them and had them in stock....

Advantages: Lightweight and fast, should be hard wearing... Disadvantages: Expensive, but worth it !
.../Force combination, but these won - primarily on price - but also I don't think I really need the super-high performance of those all-out race tyres, at the cost of a reduced puncture protection...
The GP4000 has a patented "Vectran" anti-puncture layer to prevent punctures - certainly none this morning ! It supposedly has more cut resistance than aramid, and is five times as strong as steel ! Vectran fibers are used by NASA for space mission airbags and tow ropes, so should stop those little glass slivers, pins & flints that can ruin a morning's ride !
The GP4000 is available in 650x23 size (ERTRO 23-571) in black only (for you time trialists), 700x23 (ERTRO 23-622) in Black, Gold, Silver, Bronze, Metallic Blue, Blue, Conti yellow, Red(my choice) & Lemon yellow, plus a slightly wider 700x25 (ERTRO 25-622) in Black, Black Reflective, Blue, Red & Lemon...

Advantages: Resistant to punctures, smooth, range of colours available Disadvantages: Not the cheapest, Hard to fit onto rims at first
...One of the first things that drawed me towards buying a pair of these tyres was the range of colours available, this meant I was able to choose a pair which matched the colour of my bike and kit, and after all, my old plain blacktyres were looking abit boring.
These tyres grip the road well in wet weather so you feel more reassured; they perform just as well on dry roads also. I had previously used Vittoria tyres and one of the first things I noticed about the GP 3000's was that the ride felt so much smoother and comfortable.
These aren't the cheapest tyres on the market but if you shop around your sure to find a bargain somewhere. They are retailed at £25 but i found some for £17.99 each, however you get the quality that you pay for. I've also found that at the beginning they can sometimes be hard to remove and fit onto rims...

Meet Bernard, a bookshop owner with an aversion to customers (or secretly just likes kicking them out) closes when he wants to, always with a glass of wine in his hand, but strangely endearing. He has a dry wit that is spot on and very British. Manny... more
Spent some time looking for a good outdoor watch with Altimeter, Compass and Barometric Pressure etc.. The Vector hits all those and so far seems pretty accurate. The compass once calibrated properly is accurate to within 3-5 degrees, one nice feature is more
