Continental Contact Security Reflex Tyres Features: The Contact Security is designed for commuters who simply can\'t risk a puncture; people who want a no-hassle ride to work when speed and rolling resistance is not an issue. This tyre is therefore heavier than the other Continental city tyres due to the Security layer under the tread. Due to the thickness of this layer, the likelihood of urban detritus penetrating the tread is minimalised. The compound we have used for the Contact Security uses a mix of carbon and silica as the main agents. Carbon aids tread life whilst the silica boosts grip levels. The tread derives it\' s superb function from a closer look at nature\'s solutions. Animal paws were the model for designing the tread pattern and it\'s surface!
Advantages: kevlar reinforced belt, reflective sidewalls, design, on or off road suitable Disadvantages: price is quite high but quality, safety and peace in mind costs
...fabric, additionally reinforced with Kevlar.
- Patented lightweight sidewall protection
- A coarse polyamide fabric that is tear resistant thanks to a special treatment process, protecting the tyre casing from cuts & slashes
- Highly resistant to pinches and cuts from debris, thorns and glass
- The Safety System keeps the tyre lightweight and flexible. It adapts to the rolling motion and keeps the rolling resistance low
Some Continentaltyres like Travel Contact have special tread design called "Endless Edge". Specially designed and shaped knobs with five edges and corners for better off camber grip or more precise steering.
Altogether
They are really good, heave duty slick tyres to be used on and of road (on road mostly). For harder terrain Continental offers other products. This One is more for commuters who have to or like...

Advantages: Lightweight and fast, should be hard wearing... Disadvantages: Expensive, but worth it !
...Just been for my first ride on my new Continental Grand Prix 4000 tyres, and thought I'd let you know about them. I know it's only a first use test, but will update this review when I've had them for a while. Also, I've assumed that if you're reading this, you have some interest and/or knowledge of bicycles. I hope that's OK...
Continental have over 100 years experience in the development and production of road and mountain bike tyres, at the Continental Two-Wheel division's technology and development centre in Korbach in Germany.
The Grand Prix 4000 road/race tyre is the sucessor to the excellent Grand Prix 3000 that I've had on my bike for 2 years or so. It's a "clincher" tyre (as opposed to a tubular tyre), so should fit most road/race wheels/rims. It was a bit of a narrow decision between these and the Continental Attack...

Advantages: Good frame, Fast climber, Well specced. Good to upgrade over time. Disadvantages: Tyres wear out quickly, Can't fit big tyres.
...I bought my Reflex 20 about 6 months ago. From the off she was upgraded so I can only give you the low down on what I rode.
Upgrades are tyres, pedals, stem, forks and brakes.
I ride a bit of all terrains. Commuting to work along a 6 mile route that rakes in a bit of road, steep hills and some smooth single track, worth the slight detour, so it gave me a good indication of where the bikes strengths and weaknesses were.
Strengths:
The frame is light but stiff as well. Okay, you'll never get a hardtail riding as smooth as a FS, but she handles fast downhill sections very well and takes all the abuse I have thrown at it in it's stride and climbing is great with the frame putting everything in the right place. I upgraded my forks and brakes so I cannot comment on them but it seems well specced for the price. The wheels are also...
