Continental Ultra Race Black Folding Tyre

Advantages: Resistant to punctures, smooth, range of colours available
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest, Hard to fit onto rims at first

...One of the first things that drawed me towards buying a pair of these tyres was the range of colours available, this meant I was able to choose a pair which matched the colour of my bike and kit, and after all, my old plain black tyres were looking abit boring. These tyres grip the road well in wet weather so you feel more reassured; they perform just as well on dry roads also. I had previously used Vittoria tyres and one of the first things I noticed about the GP 3000's was that the ride felt so much smoother and comfortable. These aren't the cheapest tyres on the market but if you shop around your sure to find a bargain somewhere. They are retailed at £25 but i found some for £17.99 each, however you get the quality that you pay for. Advantages: Lightweight and fast, should be hard wearing...
Disadvantages: Expensive, but worth it !

...Just been for my first ride on my new Continental Grand Prix 4000 tyres, and thought I'd let you know about them. I know it's only a first use test, but will update this review when I've had them for a while. Also, I've assumed that if you're reading this, you have some interest and/or knowledge of bicycles. I hope that's OK... Continental have over 100 years experience in the development and production of road and mountain bike tyres, at the Continental Two-Wheel division's technology and development centre in Korbach in Germany. The Grand Prix 4000 road/race tyre is the sucessor to the excellent Grand Prix 3000 that I've had on my bike for 2 years or so. It's a "clincher" tyre (as opposed to a tubular tyre), so should fit most road/race wheels/rims. It was a bit of a narrow decision between these and the Continental Attack... Read review

Advantages: Hard wearing, gatorskin versions are almost puncture proof!
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...of the tubes, helps keep the tyres feeling quick, but more importantly the time spent riding rather than stood by the side of the road fixing punctures is quite frankly worth its price. In the wind and rain of British weather this is VERY important! They are quite pricey (RRP is £27.99 - from mail-order specialists Wiggle, though Ribble Cycles do them for £20.95 at the moment - Google both names and they will come up straight away), but the fact they last so long, plus their "puncture-proof-ness" and grip, mean they are worth the money at £27 - and a bargin at £20!! If you are reading this for commuting purposes and like the gatorskin idea, but not the price of racing tyres, then Conti also do a cheaper tyre, called Ultra, which I would recommend to you - I have a pair on my commuting bike!...
