...One of the first things that drawed me towards buying a pair of these tyres was the range of colours available, this meant I was able to choose a pair which matched the colour of my bike and kit, and after all, my old plain black tyres were looking abit boring. These tyres grip the road well in wet weather so you feel more reassured; they perform just as well on dry roads also. I had previously used Vittoria tyres and one of the first things I noticed about the GP 3000's was that the ride felt so much smoother and comfortable. These aren't the cheapest tyres on the market but if you shop around your sure to find a bargain somewhere. They are retailed at £25 but i found some for £17.99 each, however you get the quality that you pay for. Advantages: lightweight, low rolling resistence. longevity
Disadvantages: tend to start looking grubby after a few rides

...I've tried many different makes of tyres in my years of racing bikes, whether it be crits, road racing or time trails and these tyres are up there with the best, for a fraction of the price. These tyres weigh about 235g each, which is pretty light. The give a nice compliant ride at high pressures (140psi) and roll exceptionally well. I used to swear by Michelins but always found they wore out within about 1000 miles. These vredsteins seem to keep going ang going. The surface does tend to crack which give me concern at first but there seems to be no loss in grip or any other noticable from new, and they do get grubby looking very quicky. They grip in the wet as good as in the dry and I use these all year round on both my 'best' race bike and winter trainer without any problem. I have only suffered 2 punctures in the last 4 years... Advantages: Hard wearing, gatorskin versions are almost puncture proof!
Disadvantages: Not a lot!

...of the tubes, helps keep the tyres feeling quick, but more importantly the time spent riding rather than stood by the side of the road fixing punctures is quite frankly worth its price. In the wind and rain of British weather this is VERY important! They are quite pricey (RRP is £27.99 - from mail-order specialists Wiggle, though Ribble Cycles do them for £20.95 at the moment - Google both names and they will come up straight away), but the fact they last so long, plus their "puncture-proof-ness" and grip, mean they are worth the money at £27 - and a bargin at £20!! If you are reading this for commuting purposes and like the gatorskin idea, but not the price of racing tyres, then Conti also do a cheaper tyre, called Ultra, which I would recommend to you - I have a pair on my commuting bike!...
