Dependable Clipless Pedals

Advantages: Ease of entry; Mud clearing; Float
Disadvantages: Durability of pedal and cleats

"Oh look! Someone's stolen your pedal!" At first glance it can certainly look that way when you see the quirky Crank Brothers Eggbeaters on a bike. These are minimal in the extreme, and look unlikely to be able to operate in the intended manner. But operate they do, and pretty well too. Eggbeaters take their name from the shape which, clearly, makes them look like they're ready to whisk up an omelette. They are a type of 'clipless' pedal (quick precis, there are basically three types of pedal: normal 'flat' style; flats with 'clips' - the little straps that go over your foot to attach you; and clipless, which attach you to the pedal by a variety of methods, culminating in a cleat on the sole of your shoe). These pedals are aimed at the mountain bike market, though can be used on a daily road bike (as I do) thanks to their simple ...

Yank This Crank

Advantages: It's under 90-minutes
Disadvantages: Pooly Directed and Edited, Incredibly Dumb

Jason Statham seems to have developed a habit for making movies that should be direct to video yet the majority of them have received theatrical releases. Now I'm not averse to Mr Statham, after all he has roots in Norfolk and has done well for himself, not only that but he's managed to keep some cred while trying to sell kit kats. That aside I can safely say that Crank is absolutely terrible in every way and that's despite having a plot which on paper actually sounds pretty good. Statham plays the absurdly named Chev Chelios, an English professional hitman in LA. After giving some crime lord the nark, he finds himself knocked out and injected with a Chinese cocktail of drugs. With his heart close to giving up his beat, Chev must keep his adrenaline up to keep alive. What ensues is about an hour of crash bang wallop car chases ...

Statham Cranks up the energy!

Advantages: Good action sequences, good special effects, Jason Statham is good
Disadvantages: A silly plot

I was at work at the library the other evening and fancied another film to watch, so had a little browse of the great selection available. I have managed to pick some truly awful films lately, so I was a bit unsure of what to go for but when I saw "Crank" on the shelf, I thought it sounded good, because I do like Jason Statham films! I showed it to my other half when I got home but he didn't want to watch it as he thought it might be a bit violent, so I sat down the other evening to watch it. Chev Chelios is a professional hitman and is about to wake up and find out he is rather a lot of trouble. Chev has been targeted by another assassin who has injected him with a Chinese poison intended to kill him within the hour. But Chev is determined not to let the poison kill him and realising adrenaline keeps the poison at bay, he sets off ...
