After a long search I finally decided for a stationary Sony MiniDisc deck to add to my Sony QS home stereo system and a matching Sony MZ-N710 MiniDisc Walkman to take along when leaving the house.
First impressions
The MZ-N710 is Sony's middle range NetMD MiniDisc recorder/player, mainly aimed towards the European market. Here in London, the price is still pretty steep and I suppose many presumptive buyers with limited budget will shy away from spending that amount of money for such a small device. Blank discs are also a bit pricey when compared to blank CD's, but nowhere near as horrendously expensive as memory cards.

...Those who have read my reviews on other electrical goods may recognise that I have a lot of bias towards Sony and my SLV710 video recorder (one of three I own because I edit my video shots), is no exception. DVD recording has not taken over yet.
I have had this machine for about 3 years now and it has not given me a moment's problem and with its auto set-up, it is easy to install. On taking it out of the box, I plugged in the aerial lead to the aerial-in socket on the VCR. In the aerial-out socket of the VCR, I plugged in the lead supplied and from there into the area in at the back of the television. I then connected the scart lead (this machine has two scart sockets, one for in, from my other VCR and the other one to the scart at the back of the television). ...This is a great product that is a multifunction device, it includes a RGB scart socket for any other devices you may want to connect up to your tv. It has a useful AV socket in the front for easy access. It acts as a LCD monitor and TV, which is great for limited spaces. The picture and sound quality is great. The speakers are built in to the front of the device, for great sound. There is a S video socket in the side, which can be used to connect a dvd player or recorder for high quality video. The teletext function on the Samsung Syncmaster 710 MP is very useful for seeing whats on later, it goes translucent so that you cam watch T.V at the same time.
