Advantages: efective little cleaner Disadvantages: Noisy
I have a small home so when I needed a new vacuum cleaner I chose the Dyson DC24 which is a smaller version of the standard model. It cost £189.99. I was expecting almost a child sized vacuum cleaner but there is not really much difference at all.
It was so simple to put together, there are peel off stickers on the unit to explain things as you go. It only took me 5 minutes to have it assembled. The ball makes vacuuming effortless, and the head of the vacuum is narrow so its easy to get under the sofa, low tables, etc.
It has strong suction as you would expect from a Dyson but it is surprising how full the cylinder is when you have finished. It really gets everything up. This does mean however that you need to empty the dust cylinder quite frequently.
The power cable is short and not retractable which can look a bit untidy if it is ...
Advantages: Small, light and compact Disadvantages: None
I have owned this for a few months now and am very impressed. I have always been a complete Dyson-phobe and refused to give in like the millions of other "Dyson fans" saying that they were overpriced and not as good as my current hoover. I previously owned a Henry hoover and didn't think I could get much better until this little thing came along. Compact and small it stores away without taking up too muchroom (always a good thing in a flat) and it picks up absolutely everything. The attachments are easy to use and handy to have when you need to reach corners and are vertically challenged. The additional "bits" that you need to remove and clean are easy (even if you are lazy like me and dont read the instruction guide). It is easy to empty with one button to detach the tube from the hoover itself and then hold the tube over the bin ...
Advantages: Picks up all dog hairs, easy to manouver once you are used to it Disadvantages: Quite hard to get attachments out at first, takes some getting use to after a standard hoover
This product was quite hard to manouver at first, I found handling the ball quite awkward and the attachments are not as easy to use as the original Dyson which is very good. However after settling in to using the product I have found the ball is easy to use and objects are easy to get around.
The suction is very good and the hoover picks up all dog hairs (our dog is currently shedding at the moment). The hoover does need emptying quite often and I can only hoover 1 room before it needs empting but then again you can see how much dirt is being picked up.
The stairs extension is quite difficult to get out but once you figure out how to do this then this too is a brilliant feature if your pets are allowed to wonder upstairs. The extra long pipe makes cleaning the stairs easy as you don't have to carry the hoover around with you ...
