I can't believe we are nearly at the end of another year and another decade! Overall, 2009 has been a great year for me and I'd like to take this opportunity to reflect on it and share some of my experiences with you.
January, February, March
In January I had my first block of 2nd year exams (on my speech and language therapy course) and I started my 2nd placement. I was placed in the university adult clinic ? the Aphasia centre, for adults with language and communication difficulties, usually following a stroke. I had two adult clients, both of whom had had a stroke, and we worked on their methods of communication. It took me a while to settle into the placement but overall I quite enjoyed it.
I went to see Kaiser Chiefs with my older sister Joanne, at the end of February at the arena in Newcastle. This was the second ...
I've always preferred the more Arcade-ish Virtua Tennis to the more tennis sim game Top Spin, so when Virtua Tennis 2009 was released I bought it on the release date.
- Gameplay -
The gameplay is virtually identical to the original Virtua Tennis, with the main change being instead if diving for a shot just out of reach - you now stumble at it.
There is no flat shot, which leaves with only slice, top spin or lob - which is a bit disappointing.
It's very easy to get the hang of the game, as all you have to do is either use the directional buttons or the analogue stick to get you to the ball then press one of the action buttons to hit it. You don't have to get your timing perfect or anywhere near it, but if you do you will play a better show.
- Graphics -
The graphics in this game are shocking ...
Advantages: Some good bits! Disadvantages: Some bad bits!
have always collected them, since going to the theatre with my parents in the 1970s, Mum pushing me slightly in the back, urging me to go up to chosen celeb with programme and pen in hand.
But in 2009, I really got back into the hobby. As well as the gymnasts, I met several of the actors at the stage door and got autographs from Lenny Henry, Neil Pearson (phwaw!!), Samantha Bond, Rowan Atkinson and Lucy Griffiths amongst others.
I joined a wonderful autograph collecting group online and this reinvigorated my interest in the hobby. I wrote around 250 fan letters this year and received 100 replies. I have had signed photos from some wonderful people this year including Dame Judi Dench, Brian Blessed, Sian Phillips, Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Barbara Windsor, Hayley Mills, Rita Moreno, Peaches Geldof ...
