The daiwa supercast is an excellent rod, i have been using the STS13PM for all my beach fishing. It is capable of casting 6oz and mackeral flapper with ease. The STS13PM is rated at 4-8oz and is ideal for areas with a strong tide.
The bite detection is also very good, on the STS13PM it has a stiffer tip which allows more sensitive bite detection in flood tides. However due to this when...

Advantages: Strength, quality, price. Disadvantages: Only one extra top two sections supplied with it.
...A few years back I used to fish in my local angling club matches, and although these matches were just fun events with club trophy’s given out at the end of the season, there were also a few pennies to be won each week. It soon became clear, that to get in the money you had to be able to fish with a pole as a lot of the venues we fished were suited to this kind of fishing.
So off I went to my local tackle shop in search of a pole, having used my local tackle shop for all my fishing life; they knew me as a regular customer. This helped a great deal, as they knew the sort of venues I fished, and they recommended that I buy the Team Daiwa Matchlite.

Advantages: Good casting distance, high speed retrieval, comfortable handle, good power Disadvantages: Outer finishing seems not lasting too long.
.... Need the retrieval speed and power altogether.
The specification of this reel certainly meet my demand. With daiwa tag on it and 11 corrosian resistance bearing, it was properly suited my taste.
I coupled this reel with 10' DAM uptide rod (4 - 10 oz casting weight) and with Power Pro braided line (red). I might had went too far on the line selection, I would recomment mono line as my finger a bit sore everytime after quite a few cast. With tide that twisted the leader, I spent quite some time on getting it entangled. But, with the braided line and paired with reel, I could get 100 yards distance, and I am only 5'6 & 140 lb. That is why I decided to go for 10' rod. I got about the same casting distance when I am using using 13' rod but with Digigeared poweredDaiwa reel. With 3' handicapped, this reel really make a difference in casting...

Since I'm still a poor penniless student i was over the moon when my mam got me a 42" HD TV for an early birthday present. When it finally got delivered I was going crazy thinking about all the possibilities of things I could do with it, when I turned it more
