The daiwa supercast is an excellent rod, i have been using the STS13PM for all my beach fishing. It is capable of casting 6oz and mackeral flapper with ease. The STS13PM is rated at 4-8oz and is ideal for areas with a strong tide.
The bite detection is also very good, on the STS13PM it has a stiffer tip which allows more sensitive bite detection in flood tides. However due to this when...

Advantages: Good casting distance, high speed retrieval, comfortable handle, good power Disadvantages: Outer finishing seems not lasting too long.
.... Need the retrieval speed and power altogether.
The specification of this reel certainly meet my demand. With daiwa tag on it and 11 corrosian resistance bearing, it was properly suited my taste.
I coupled this reel with 10' DAM uptide rod (4 - 10 oz casting weight) and with Power Pro braided line (red). I might had went too far on the line selection, I would recomment mono line as my finger a bit sore everytime after quite a few cast. That is why I decided to go for 10' rod. I got about the same casting distance when I am using using 13' rod but with Digigeared powered Daiwa reel. With 3' handicapped, this reel really make a difference in casting...

Advantages: Excellent service, products, prices Disadvantages: You'll probably spend too much money

Avenue Angling is located up Denbeigh Road in the Golden Triangle are of Norwich. If you can't visit the shop then I know that John does mail order, Call 01603 764004
It was one of my carp fishing buddoes that got me in to Avenue Angling. The way carp fishing was going had meant that carp super markets were being opened up just like Angling Direct. The personal touch was missing and it was impossible to obtain help and advice from knowledgeable anglers, instead you get served by YTS Saturday boys that don't know the difference between a boilie and a bivvy. It is good that all products are on display in that it is possible to see the size of the bivvy and what it looks like when it is set up, feel how heavy the rod is before you...
