Diadora Chili Sport MTB Features: The chili sport is built to last, no matter where your riding takes you. The tri-density sole excels in all trail conditions. The hard wearing upper is produced from a combination of dupont cordura and strong synthetic leather with a resin bonded reinforced toebox. A secure fit is assured using two wide velcro straps. Please Note:- Pedal cleats are not included with the shoes, they can be bought separately and are always supplied with new pedals
Advantages: Very Comfortable, great allrounder, velcro closure system Disadvantages: Not the most technical shoe, the dye runs.
...This is more of a follow-up to my review of the standard Red Chili Spirits (http://sports.ciao.co.uk/RedChiliSpiritReview5643275) as I bought these after my lace up Spirits wore out. I found the Lace up shoes to be very comfortable while still offering ample ability, but fancied the quick on/off advantage of the Velcro Spirit.
Here's what the manufacturer has to say about the shoe:
- ImpactZone EVA heel shock absorber
- Velcro triplex tension control
- Easy on and off
- Asymmetric last with comfort fit
- Performance fit heel
- Precision edging
- Graduated midsoles
- Red
- UK sizes 2-12
"Built for bouldering and sport, both inside and outside, but with enough power for towers, the Spirit Velcro ImpactZone targets a wide range of fun. For quick on and offs, technical ups and jump-offs, the convenience of Velcro makes...

Advantages: Comfortable, durable, all round Disadvantages: A beginners shoe
...Finding a climbing shoe that fits properly is an important factor when you decide you want to climb an interesting looking piece of rock. The first pair of rock shoes I ever bought were the Red Chili Spirits and they served me well.
The shoes are a comfortable pair which is ideal if you are climbing for an entire day. They fit well and have a low profile heel and toe for descents and cracks. The rubber used on the sole is incredibly sticky and provides great grip even when smearing on the most unlikely of polished surfaces.
They are a great all-round rock shoe and are perfect for all disciplines; bouldering, sports climbing and traditional climbing. Not many shoes can boast the fact that they are great all-rounders and perform well no matter what your style is.
I think that they are a perfect beginners shoe as unlike other rock...

Advantages: Make an MTB better on road Disadvantages: Can be hard to find. No good off road
...Continental have produced the Grand Prix tyre in mtb size. 26" x 1"
It has the same tread pattern as the road tyre and is very light (c.200g)
Foldable too - with a kevlar bead
I rode them on my Specialised mtb over the summer on a commute (8 miles each way) and they are superb for use on the road. It is the closest to a road bike tyre that I have ever seen, is very responsive and feels fast!
If you ride an mtb mostly on the road and can feel the energy sapping from your legs with big knobbly tyres, you could do far worse than get a pair of these!
They seem very durable too and can be inflated to decent pressures too - I ran them at close to 100 psi
They are quite rare in shops and I had to search through a few on line stores to find one that listed them and had them in stock....
