I can't believe we are nearly at the end of another year and another decade! Overall, 2009 has been a great year for me and I'd like to take this opportunity to reflect on it and share some of my experiences with you. January, February, March In January I had my first block of 2nd year exams (on my speech and language therapy course) and I started my 2nd placement. I was placed in the university adult clinic ? the Aphasia centre, for adults with language and communication difficulties, usually following a stroke. I had two adult clients, both of whom had had a stroke, and we worked on their methods of communication. It took me a while to settle into the placement but overall I quite enjoyed it. Vango Venture 500

Advantages: Good Size, Brilliant Value, High Quality, Sturdy, Easy to Erect
Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

I purchased my Vango Venture 500 towards the end of 2006. For the bargain price of £85.00 and I haven't looked back since! Numourus camping trips have bee happily spent in this tent and it will see many more! The frame consists of 2 large poles crossing over to make the main dome, and a 3rd smaller pole creating a loop for the porch area. Once erect, with all pegs and guide ropes in place the tent is extremely strong and stable. We have camped in strong winds and strong rain and it has stood strong throughout. As long as there are two of you, erecting the tent is a swift and easy process. Funnily enough you tend to erect it faster when its raining! And packing it back into the bag is an art the first time but you tend to remember how to do it from then onwards and it's easy enough. When packaged, the tent is relatively heavy ...

Review of Vango Venture 500

Scone Shoes

Advantages: comfortable, better fitting shoes at reasonable prices
Disadvantages: limited range, most of them are quite ugly

First let me explain ?scone shoes.? When I first ordered shoes from the Shoe Tailor, experts in wider-fitting shoes, I measured my feet incorrectly and found that the only shoes in their catalogue that would fit me were their widest, ugliest, most orthopaedic, brown, granny shoes: the type you might wear to go out with your friends for a scone, in your later years. Hence my friends groaningly called them my ?scone shoes? and walked several yards behind me on the way to the pub every night. They were very comfy! However, they fell apart after a couple of years of continuous wear, and once gone, same said friends took me shopping to some ?proper? shoe shops in Glasgow and I never once consulted my Shoe Tailor catalogue again.
