Good all purpose shoe, also suitable for cricket

Advantages: Comfortable, well made, reasonable price
Disadvantages: not a lot of toe protection

I have starting playing indoor cricket, and have been playing on polished wooden surfaces, where grip has been important, especially when bowling. I found the Adidas Uproar to be very comfortable, although not specifically designed for cricket, although taking one on the foot from an indoor ball still hurts. For bowling I found grip very good, essential if you want to avoid turning your ankle over when bowling, even though these are a low cut trainer. The bottom of the shoe has a non-marking indoor sole, and good traction. A cross trainer cut would be a plus, although these shoes were good value and being well made will undoubtedly last for a long time. ...

Prince Indoor NFS II Squash Shoe

Advantages: Comfortable, Durable, Fashionable, Protective
Disadvantages: Fairly Expensive

Playing squash 4 or 5 times a week every week of the year necessitates the purchase of a comfortable and durable squash shoe. My most recent pair were purchased over the internet and cost me £29.99 + postage and packing. This year a fashionable 'blue' colour has been added to the range, previously, only black and white were available. As well as the above factors, the other ...

Ice is for Drinks, not Hockey

Advantages: Great way to stay fit and have fun
Disadvantages: Injuries can happen

. The standard playing/training kit of t-shirt and shorts or a tracksuit belongs in most people’s wardrobe, even if it hasn’t seen the light of day since John Major was PM. The essential pieces of kit will be a stick, which can be purchased for anything between £20-£25 and £120 upwards. The important thing to consider when choosing a hockey stick is how it feels in your hands. You will be carrying it around for 70 minutes during a game, and you will be waving it around a fair amount, so it is important that you have a stick which you feel happy with. This is purely an individual thing and I would never recommend buying a stick online. The major hockey stick manufacturers are Dita, Grays, Slazenger and Kookaburra. I am using a Slazenger stick at present, but have previously owned both Dita and Grays sticks. I prefer a lighter stick, but ...
